Gamers have discovered images of a game from a series with a rating of more than 90

IN total, there have been four canceled TimeSplitters games, despite the series’ stellar legacy.

This is more games than those actually released for the series, which took off in the early 2000s.

Although only three TimeSplitters games were ever released, they were all highly rated and players waited a long time for a new entry.

An untitled TimeSplitters game that we now know was called TimeSplitters Next was canceled in late 2023, causing players to lose hope once again.

Cutbacks were made when the Embracer Group laid off more than a thousand staff as part of a cost-cutting program.

This included the entirety of Free Radical Design, the studio that developed TimeSplitters Next.

Although no footage of the game was ever officially released, a former employee of the studio posted a six-minute gameplay video on LinkedIn.

The footage is from July 2023, meaning it’s a snapshot of development about three months before the game was canceled.

The developer wrote: “So, you want to know more about the canceled TimeSplitters game?

“I’ll be sure to post what I can… Embracer Group could be hiding in a cave somewhere.”

The LinkedIn post has since been deleted, but we were able to watch the video before it was deleted.

The video starts with some footage from the older TimeSplitters games before moving into gameplay from TimeSplitters Next.

The game was still in development, so the video shows early footage, but it doesn’t seem like it followed the formula from the series of the same name.

Instead, it looks like a Fortnite clone, with bright colors, lots of weapons and shooting, and a user interface that looks like it was taken straight from the Battle Royale.

One commenter said it looks like “Fortnite at home,” and indicated it is lower quality than Fortnite.

Several features closely mimic Fortnite, including the in-game store and battle pass, as well as the appearance of the characters and map.

TimeSplitters Next would also have had several game modes, some of which could accommodate up to 100 players.

From the developer’s description, it seems like the decision to copy Fortnite came from the Embracer Group and not the studio.
