Travis Kelce is 'heartbroken' over the Super Bowl parade taping

Travis Kelce broke his silence after one person was killed and several people were injured during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade.

“I am heartbroken over the tragedy that occurred today,” Kelce, 34, posted on Wednesday, February 14, via X. “My heart is with everyone who came out to celebrate with us and who was affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

Kansas City, Missouri police confirmed Wednesday that a shooting had occurred near the event.

“Shots were fired around Union Station. Please leave the area,” their statement read via X. The department subsequently confirmed that “several people were affected” after shots were fired near a garage near the event.

According to the Kansas City Fire Department, one person is dead and more than 20 are injured as a result of the incident. One hospital treating patients has confirmed that nine children are being treated for gunshot wounds but are expected to make a full physical recovery.

“Agents are in the process of clearing Union Station itself. We will release everyone in the building once that is complete,” another statement said. “We are still trying to determine the number of victims from the shooting. … Everyone in the area should leave the area as quickly and safely as possible to facilitate the treatment of the shooting victims. Please avoid the Union Station parking garage to allow first responders to pass.”

The shooting happened as the Super Bowl parade was ending. Earlier that day, the Super Bowl champions followed a two-mile route through downtown Kansas City.
