Taylor Swift is supported by her adoring boyfriend Travis Kelce as she finally hits the stage on the first night of the Eras Tour in Sydney – after a lightning strike delayed the concert and caused chaos

Taylor Swift’s first concert in Sydney kicked off late Friday night after storms and rain caused the Accor Stadium to be temporarily evacuated.

Despite the set for support act Sabrina Carpenter being canceled, Swift ultimately took the stage a little after the scheduled time of 7:30 PM.

Looking on proudly was her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who caused a roar from the crowd as he arrived to proudly watch his beloved pop star do what she does best.

In videos shared on social media, the NFL star was seen walking into the stadium before taking his place in a special VIP box.

The footballer couldn’t wipe the smile off his face as Taylor took to the stage in one of her iconic sparkly tights.

Travis opted for a smart shirt with blue patterns and matching shorts, as well as a pair of white sneakers.

He had walked through the crowd to applaud him before being led to his VIP seat, where he was seen beaming as he watched Taylor perform.

Sydney’s wild weather caused chaos on Friday evening for the 80,000 Swifties heading to her first show of the Eras Tour in the city.

Fans seated on the ground and lower bowl levels of the stadium were asked to move inside after lightning struck just 6 miles (10 kilometers) away shortly before 6 p.m.

A statement from Accor Stadium, issued just before 6 p.m., told concertgoers that the three-hour show had been postponed.

“Please note: Due to weather, the show start time has been postponed,” it said.

‘Remain undercover until further notice and follow the site screens and staff instructions.

“Stay safe and remember to be kind to those around you.”

Swift took the stage around 7:50 p.m., while her supporting act Sabrina Carpenter was suspended from Friday night’s performance.

Timmerman was scheduled to start at 6:20 PM and Swift was scheduled to start at 7:30 PM.

“We’ve got a bit of a weather situation, maybe some rain, but I’ve never known an Aussie crowd to let that get in the way of having a good time,” Taylor told her fans as she started her performance .

Earlier, a male voice could be heard over a loudspeaker in the stadium telling fans that lightning had struck 10 km away and that ticket holders should evacuate.

Following the announcement, a stream of concertgoers, most wearing plastic rain ponchos, were seen heading to covered areas of the stadium.

Accor Stadium had said the show will go ahead unless there is “severe weather that could affect the safety of performers and visitors.”

“I’m just really nervous about the rain, it’s pretty obvious here, but Accor still hasn’t announced when the show is going to start,” Sydney Swiftie Annabelle told Daily Mail Australia before the show started.

“I’m just a little stressed with the sound clock and everything.”

Accor Stadium is believed to have an 11pm curfew. Swift’s Eras Tour shows last just under three and a half hours.

Taylor spent time relaxing before the show. She and her boyfriend Travis visited the Sydney Zoo.

The pop star and her NFL star partner were on a date at the 16.5-acre property earlier this week ahead of Swift’s three concerts in Australia’s largest city, when they even petted a small kangaroo.

The pair are sparing no expense for their overseas reunion in Australia, staying at one of Sydney’s swankiest and most extravagant hotels.

The pair will stay at the chic Crown Towers, the city’s first six-star hotel, located in the harbor district of Barangaroo, during Swift’s four-day stop in Sydney for her Eras Tour.

With upscale dining, lavish facilities and high-end amenities throughout the property, the venue offers a guaranteed luxury experience, something both Taylor and Travis are more than accustomed to.

Yet the loved-up couple still opted for the most lavish – and most expensive – room the hotel had to offer: the Crown Presidential Villa.

The palatial residence is so chic that guests should inquire about nightly rates, which typically start at an eye-watering $16,300 (AUD$25,000) per night.

Billed as the property’s largest villa at 80 sqm, the two-storey hotel room is located on the 88th floor and offers stunning panoramic views of Sydney and Sydney Harbor through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Taylor’s visit comes after she literally stopped traffic while out for dinner in Sydney on Tuesday night.

The global superstar shocked onlookers at Pellegrino 2000, a community trattoria in Surry Hills.

Looking every inch a local hipster, Taylor opted for an understated black gypsy top paired with a brown suede skirt for the outing.

She made the most of her evening off with fellow singer Sabrina Carpenter, who is currently supporting Taylor on her sold-out Eras Tour.

The Girl Meets World star dazzled in a red mini dress with white fringes and simple tights at the back.

Sabrina accessorized her look with a classic Louis Vuitton handbag and wore a black leather jacket to protect herself from Sydney’s unpredictable weather lately.

Taylor is currently enjoying time off in Sydney after her Eras Tour took Melbourne by storm, selling out three days at the famous MCG.

Swift will perform four shows in Sydney from Friday February 23 to Monday February 26.
