Former President Donald J. Trump kept classified documents not only in a storage room, but also in a shower, an office, a bedroom and a ballroom, according to the indictment unsealed Friday. It details how Trump moved dozens of boxes of sensitive documents from the White House to Mar-a-Lago, his home and private club in Palm Beach, Fla.

Federal prosecutors charged Mr. Trump with 37 counts, including 31 counts of withholding national defense information and five counts of concealment of classified documents.
The indictment says that in the time between Trump’s departure from the White House and the recovery of the documents in August 2022, Mar-a-Lago hosted more than 150 social events attended by “tens of thousands of guests.”
In April 2021, Mr. Trump’s associates moved dozens of boxes from an area in Mar-a-Lago called the business center in the indictment to a bathroom in what is known as the More Room.
“There’s another small space in the shower where his other stuff is,” one employee texted the other, the lawsuit said.

According to the indictment, in May 2021, Mr. Trump ordered his employees to clear space in a storage area to keep the boxes of documents he brought from the White House. In June, boxes are stored in the More Room were moved to the storage areabringing the total number of boxes in that room to over 80.
The hallway leading to the storage area was connected to a pool deck, which Mar-a-Lago club members could access, through “a doorway that was often kept open,” prosecutors said.
In December 2021, Walt Nauta, a personal assistant who was being sued along with Mr. Trump, texted one of Mr. Trump’s associates a photo of documents, including at least one with a classification mark, that was on the storage room floor spilled. “Oh no oh no,” the employee replied.

For about two months, between January and March 2021, some documents were stored on a podium in the White and gold ballroom – a lavish event space rented out for weddings and private events – before being moved to the business center and storage area.
In November 2021, Mr. Trump ordered that some boxes be brought from the storage unit to his residence so that he could review them. Part of this was preserved Pine hallan access room to the Trump Family Suite.
When FBI officials searched Mar-a-Lago in August 2022, they found 27 classified documents in Mr. Trump’s officeincluding six with the highest classification level.

Trump also took boxes of documents to his golf club in Bedminster, NJ, according to the indictment. It was there that Mr. Trump was recorded and said he knew he had a classified document.
