Former President Donald Trump has praised King Charles in an all-caps message following his shock cancer diagnosis, sending prayers for a speedy recovery to someone he “got to know well.”

Trump's was just one of many expressions of gratitude that arrived following news that the King, 75, has begun treatment for an unknown form of cancer, with President Biden saying he plans to call the King soon.

King Charles, whose coronation took place in May, was being treated for an enlarged prostate when doctors discovered a worrying problem that turned out to be cancer, Buckingham Palace said

“I'm about to call him,” Biden said amid the outpouring of support from around the world: “I'm worried about him. I just heard about his diagnosis.”

The president learned of the shocking news from Charles before meeting with culinary staffers in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He answered questions less than two hours after the palace announced in a statement Monday evening that the king has cancer.

The monarch has returned to London from Sandringham to begin treatment immediately.

His condition is not related to his recent medical procedure for an enlarged prostate, and is not prostate cancer.

The palace did not say what form of cancer he has.

The king is said to have personally informed his sons Prince William and Prince Harry of his condition.

Harry will fly from the US to London in the coming days to be by his father's side as he begins treatment.

Biden last met King Charles at Windsor Castle in July. It was the first time they had held talks since the coronation in May.
