Tyreek Hill jokes that Travis Kelce is 'too famous' to text back

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill his former teammate joked Travis Kelce is “too famous” to respond to his texts.

“I texted Kelce. He still hasn't texted me back,” Hill, 29, said on Thursday, January 11, prior to the Wild Card game between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, January 13. “He's probably still into his Taylor Swift thing. .”

As for contacting his other former Chiefs teammates, Hill joked that he hasn't contacted the quarterback Patrick Mahomes “since they beat us up,” apparently referring to Kansas City beating the Dolphins in their Nov. 5 game in Germany.

“Yeah man, those guys are too famous for me now, I guess,” Hill added.

Hill has made a name for himself in Miami since being traded in 2022, but he spent the first six seasons of his career playing for Kansas City.

Kelce, 34, may have fallen behind on his writing as he prepares for the playoffs in hopes of defending the Chiefs title at Super Bowl LVIII. The tight end even sat out the Jan. 10 game against the Los Angeles Chargers in an effort to rest for the remainder of the season. The decision prevented him from breaking the record for the NFL tight end with most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. The athlete was just 16 receiving yards shy of his eighth straight year, but instead finished the regular season with 984 receiving yards.

“If I could get some rest over the next week, stay off the grass in LA and just avoid a few hits, I was all for that to get ready for the playoffs,” Kelce said of his decision during an episode of his Podcast 'Nieuwe Hoogten'. “It didn't feel like I had to play the game that way.”

Kelce noted that he is not “saying anything about the record” and that his thoughts are focused on the big game, scheduled for February 11.

“I never said here that if I don't reach 1,000 yards, my season is a failure,” Kelce continued. “I've always had it in my head … if I lose a Super Bowl, it's a failure.”

It's no secret that Kelce's popularity has skyrocketed since he and Taylor Swift made their relationship public in September 2023. The couple has spent a lot of time publicly supporting each other, but they are still taking their relationship one step at a time despite engagement rumors.
