ANTHONY JOSHUA beat Francis Ngannou in the first round – and Tyson Fury loved it.
The Gypsy King sat front row for the heavyweight bout at the Kingdom Arena, Saudi Arabia.
Fury worked to a points victory over the MMA champion in October, but Joshua made light work of his opponent.
Joshua knocked down Ngannou two minutes into the match and Fury responded enthusiastically as he nodded his head vigorously and applauded passionately for his compatriot.
That was just the start of the excitement as Ngannou staggered back to his feet before starting the round.
However, he was soon back on the canvas as AJ landed a deadly right hand that sent the Cameroonian into a spiral.
Ngannou got up again, but the Joshua’s next right hand ended the match because it was lights out for The Predator.
The event was billed as ‘Knockout Chaos’ and it delivered, with Joshua once again proving his power.
Ngannou was left sprawled on the canvas, needing oxygen before getting back up.
Joshua only celebrated when it was confirmed his opponent was doing well, hugging Ngannou while telling him he was an “inspiration”.

AJ said after his win: “It is what it is.
“On the way to the championship you always have to stay focused and I had to distance myself from the mission
“I thought it was just a gimmick for the broadcasters.
“When I saw the Fury fight I thought this guy can fucking fight, I want a piece of that.
“I wanted to welcome him and this doesn’t take anything away from him, he can come again.
“I’m still learning and pushing, I don’t know if I’ll reach my peak. If I was down there, you’d say, ‘Anthony Joshua needs to retire.’
“In five years I will be done with fighting and sitting, and all this will be a distant memory.
“I’ll go back and lock myself in my cage and they can let me out if they want me to fight. I just want to fight.”
