That’s because WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman wants it SIX judges for the fight – instead of the usual three.

And he has even launched an emergency petition to get the radical proposal passed.

That includes Sulaiman contacting rival organizations WBA, IBF and WBO, as well as the other parties involved in the fight, to get them on board.

Several major fights have been marred by controversy over judges’ scorecards, such as Fury’s win over Francis Ngannou and Josh Taylor’s controversial win over Jack Catterall in 2022.

There were also major questions about Rey Vargas retaining his featherweight belt against Nick Ball despite being knocked down twice.

And doubling the number of judges could help root out rogue scores that overturn decisions.

Sulaiman told Boxing scene: ‘What we saw last week in Saudi Arabia was another example of how vulnerable official behavior worldwide still is.

“We saw one judge having it big in a certain way, while the other judge let the other guy win.

“Such a controversy in the Fury-Usyk fight will kill boxing.

“Fights, especially those at this highest level, deserve this and that is why I am now submitting this proposal to all sanctioning bodies, promoters and fighters.

“It has to be something we all agree on.”

Fury and Usyk will finally enter the ring on May 18.

Their original date of December 23 was postponed following Fury’s fight against MMA legend Ngannou.

Just two weeks before their rescheduled February 17 meeting in Saudi Arabia, the Gypsy King suffered a nasty cut above his eye while sparring.

If either fighter now withdraws from the new date, they will have to hand over almost £8 million to their rival.

The fight will take place in Saudi Arabia and for the first time Sky Sports, TNT Sports and DAZN will all have the broadcast rights as they battle to top the pay-per-view figures.
