School holiday declared today in Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar for Guru Teg Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas

Schools in Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar will remain closed for students from kindergarten to class 12 on Friday, November 24, 2023 to observe Guru Teg Bhadur Shaheedi Diwas.

Noida: All schools, including private ones, will remain closed in Noida, Greater Noida under Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh on Friday on the occasion of Martyrdom Day. As per the notification received from the District Magistrate Office, these schools will remain closed for students of kindergarten to class 12 on Friday, November 24, 2023 to observe Guru Teg Bhadur Shaheedi Diwas.

Everyone, including the students, should know that Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh, the 9th Guru of the Sikhs, was born in Amritsar, Punjab and his father’s name was Hargobind Singh. Tegh Bahadur’s childhood name was Tyagamal. Tegh Bahadur had made the supreme sacrifice to protect faith, trust and authority. He is also called ‘Chadar of Hind’ and a Gurdwara Sahib has been built in his memory at the site of his martyrdom.

Apart from Noida, schools in Delhi are also likely to remain closed on November 24, 2023 on account of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day. Details about this are not currently available. However, parents or students may contact the school authorities for any queries.

Dry day on November 24

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has announced a dry day celebration on November 24, ordering the closure of liquor shops in the national capital as the city will observe Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom day.

“It was said that liquor shops will remain closed on November 24 (the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur) in lieu of Christmas (December 25) in Delhi,” an excise department notification said.

The department officials said that Christmas will no longer be a dry day as announced earlier by the excise department. In the earlier order dated September 29, the department had declared six dry days in the October-December period, including December 25, when Christmas is celebrated.

Schools closed in Tamil Nadu

Due to incessant heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, all government and private schools in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Theni, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari districts were closed on Thursday.

Thursday’s weather forecast from the Chennai Regional Meteorological Center indicates that light to moderate rainfall is expected in the regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, accompanied by thundershowers and lightning at specific locations.

The weather bureau has also forecast heavy rains in parts of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, and thundershowers till November 23.
