Mumbai: The UP Warriorz finished third in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), but lost out in the Eliminator at the hands of eventual champions, Mumbai Indians. Ahead of the second ever auction, UP will be looking to make the most of their chances as they will have the second largest purse of all teams and five slots to fill.
Out of 5 slots they can buy 4 Indians and only one foreigner. Ahead of the auction, they left Devika Vaidya, Shabnim Ismail, Shivali Shinde and Simran Shaikh out of the team. Players like captain Alyssa Healy, Deepti Sharma, Grace Harris, Sophie Ecclestone and Tahlia Mcgrath have all been retained in the franchise.
Last season the Warriorz played a total of 9 games, of which they managed to win 4 and even reached the play-offs.
