UTA drops Susan Sarandon for commenting on the Israel-Hamas conflict

Susan Sarandon was dropped by the United Talent Agency for her controversial comments on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

A UTA spokesperson said this Hollywood reporter on Tuesday, Nov. 21, that the agency was no longer representing 77-year-old Sarandon. The Oscar winner has not yet addressed the situation. Sarandon and UTA have not yet responded We weekly‘s request for comment.

Sarandon made headlines with a speech she gave at a pro-Palestine rally in New York City on Friday, November 17.

“There are many people who are afraid to be Jewish right now, and who are getting a taste of what it feels like to be Muslim in this country that is so often subjected to violence,” Sarandon told the crowd, according to the obtained video. By the New York Post.

Journalist Asra Nomaniwho is a Muslim-American, denounced Sarandon’s comments.

“Please don’t say that Jewish Americans should trivialize the experience of Jewish Americans by purifying the hell that it is for Muslims living in Muslim countries, and by vilifying America for the life – and freedoms – it provides to Muslims like my family, she wrote. X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, November 20. “Go live as a Muslim woman in a Muslim country. You come back to America and kiss the land beneath your feet.”

Before ending her partnership with UTA, Sarandon had been with the agency since 2014. She was previously represented by ICM Partners.

Sarandon isn’t the only star who has spoken out about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. We believe that all life is sacred, regardless of creed or ethnicity, and we condemn the murder of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.”

The group implored world leaders to “honor all lives in the Holy Land” by ending the bombing of Gaza, facilitating “the safe release of all hostages” and allowing humanitarian aid to reach the region urgently.

The letter ended with celebrities expressing their “pain and mourning” for those affected by the war and a desire to “stop more bloodshed.”
