Video: 7 killed as bus catches fire after colliding with dumper in MP’s Guna

Guna, Madhya Pradesh: At least seven people were killed while several others suffered serious burns when a private bus caught fire after colliding with a dumper in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district late Wednesday night.

According to officials, the incident took place on Guna-Aaron road around 9pm when a passenger bus collided head-on with a dumper truck coming from the opposite direction.

The incident took place near Duhai Temple, reports said. They said at least seven passengers were burned alive in the horrific crash.

“At least seven people have been confirmed dead and several others have sustained serious injuries,” Guna tehsildar GS Bairwa told news agency PTI. However, the exact number of injured is not yet known, the official said.

Images of the incident doing the rounds on social media platforms showed the bus engulfed in huge flames as paramedics and police officials rushed in to rescue the victims.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and announced relief of Rs 4 lakh for the kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.

CM Yadav also ordered an inquiry into the incident

In a post on X, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia called the incident “painful”.

“The news of the fire in a passenger bus on Guna-Aaron Road is saddening. As soon as news of the incident was received, I spoke to the Guna Collector over phone and instructed him to immediately launch a relief and rescue operation,” Scindia said.

Expressing grief over the incident, the Union minister said, “May God grant peace to the souls of the citizens who died in this accident and give their families the fortitude to bear this loss.”

“I wish a speedy recovery for the citizens injured in the accident,” he added.
