Bangalore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew in the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas on Saturday. The outage took place in the backdrop of the Prime Minister’s visit to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) facility in Bengaluru in Karnataka. During his visit, he conducted a comprehensive survey of HAL’s manufacturing facility, including the production of Tejas jets. According to reports, the flight lasted almost 45 minutes.

Sharing the photos of his flight, PM Modi said the experience of flying in homegrown aircraft significantly strengthened his confidence in the country’s indigenous capabilities.

“A mission successfully completed on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, greatly strengthening my confidence in our country’s indigenous capabilities and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential,” he wrote on X.

Prime Minister Modi has advocated indigenous production of defense products and highlighted this approach during his visit to the United States where GE Aerospace and HAL signed an agreement to jointly produce engines for Tejas Mk-II.

In particular, the Tejas, a light combat aircraft, has attracted interest from several countries, leading to collaboration agreements such as the one between GE Aerospace and HAL for the joint production of Mk-II Tejas engines during the Prime Minister’s visit to the US.
