High School, Foxford Community, in Coventryimplemented the new system this month in an effort to keep children in class for the full hour.

But parents and guardians do outraged by the “controlling” decision – because they think this will harm their education.

Ian, 54, who has six grandchildren in Foxford, has closed the school.

He told CoventryLive: “Foxford kept the toilet doors locked for a period of time, preventing the children from using the toilets.

‘And now they’ve installed locked cage doors to prevent the children from even going near the toilet.

“Children are only allowed to go to the toilet under supervision, which is completely wrong.

“It is taking away freedom being able to use the toilet as and when you need it.”

Foxford Community School said they had no choice but to introduce the “metal doors” because they had them problems with students in the toilets.

Ian said he understands the school is dealing with toilet issues, but the “cages are going too far”.

The doting grandfather said his loved ones now feel “trapped” and hate the environment in which they have to learn.

A spokesperson for Foxford said: “We have recently installed metal doors for two toilet areas. These are not cages and the doors are unlocked before and after school, as well as during recess and lunch.”

It comes after the Seahaven Academy in Newhaven, East Sussex, shutters introduced in their students’ toilets.

Shocked parents came together to create a petition to remove the barriers.

They believed that the new system posed a danger to the health of the students and should be abolished.

‘Ridiculous’ school rules

SCHOOLS across the country have introduced ‘ridiculous’ rules over the years.

Parents have always been quick to share the baffling restrictions their children came home to and told them about.

And some are wild…

Late last year, a mother shared how to ask her 11-year-old son permission to take off his sweater and could not drink water during his lessons.

She ran to Mothernet to get advice from other mothers.

Another mother criticized her son’s school rule banned his health lunch box.

She revealed that the amount of packaging used in the meal would be an issue as there are “zero containers for students”.

Finally, The Sun exclusively revealed that one school threw students into isolation for carrying “identical” school uniforms from supermarkets.
