WEST HAM are planning to spend big on a centre-back and could cash in on Nayef Aguerd.

Boss David Moyes’ spies have added a fast and tough defender to their summer list.

Moroccan international Aguerd, 27, may be sold abroad where he has admirers and a less frenetic and physical level may suit him better.

The defender has played nineteen games in the Premier League so far this season.

But some fans thought he was far too weak in recent months.

Since Aguerd returned to the Africa Cup of Nations squad, West Ham have conceded 11 goals in three games.

Club officials are now prepared to let him leave at the end of the campaign.

Aguerd attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester City last summer, but neither club is expected to bid for him.

However, City could look to sign West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta.

Pep Guardiola could target the Brazilian if Bernardo Silva leaves.

Man City made a move to the Paqueta last summer but ended their interest when the FA opened an investigation into possible breaches of betting rules, which has yet to be resolved.

The midfielder was valued at £70million during his relationship.
