Kmart shoppers are raving about a ‘groundbreaking’ cooling accessory that many are describing as a ‘gift from the gods’.

The $19 rechargeable, portable evaporative cooler is the latest ‘must-have’ gadget from the popular Australian retailer.

Reviews boasting about the cheap cooler have gone viral in recent weeks after a few days of warm weather.

“That definitely works, especially if you put ice packs in the water area,” said one.

“I’ve bought two now,” said another.

The three-speed cooler comes with two cooling elements and a USB cable for easy charging.

It is intended for activities such as camping, but many people use it at home instead of expensive air conditioners.

“I actually bought it for my son because his bedroom is very warm, but it’s very handy for my desk,” one mother bragged.

“My mother doesn’t have air conditioning. She got the evaporative cooler from Kmart…and she said it was a godsend. She’s renting so that’s the best she can do,” said another.

The cooler works – according to the product description – for five hours and needs four hours to recharge.

A similar product, from Bunnings, went viral a few weeks ago.

The $24 gadget was called “the best thing you could ever get” at the hardware store by one regular customer.

One woman said she keeps hers on her nightstand, facing her pillow, so she can be cool all night long.

‘The water lasts a few hours, but the fan still works well when it is empty.’
