Chandigarh: In a major political shift by the BJP government in Haryana, the Haryana Chief Minister’s government was transferred from Manohar Lal Khattar to Nayab Singh Saini today. The political move coincides with the BJP’s strategic decision to part ways with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), paving the way for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Who is Nayab Singh Saini?

Nayab Singh Saini’s involvement in multiple facets of the saffron party is quite extensive, including the farmers’ assembly known as Kisan Morcha, where he served in the capacity of state secretary general. In 2012, his role underwent a notable change when he was appointed district president, a position that entrusted him with overseeing the party’s efforts in Ambala.

Political career of Nayab Singh Saini

In the last Lok Sabha elections, Nayab Singh Saini was elected from Kurukshetra constituency where he defeated Congress Party’s Nirmal Singh by a huge margin of nearly four lakh votes. Before being selected as Member of Legislative Assembly for Narayangarh in 2014, he had also held various positions within the party. Notably, just two years after his successful election, he became a minister in the state government and is now the chief minister of the state.

Nayab Singh Saini started his political journey about thirty years ago with a commitment to building the BJP in Haryana. As the years passed, he rose through the party’s hierarchy, first taking up the mantle of district general secretary of the BJP’s younger cadre in Ambala in 2002 and then rising to the post of district president in 2005.

Personal background of Nayab Singh Saini

The Chief Minister hails from a humble village called Mizapur Majra, located in Ambala. He was born on January 25, 1970. This scholar went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree, studied at BR Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and later obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Ch. Charan Singh University in Meerut.
