Tenzin Yangki, a resident of Tawang, created history when she became the first Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Arunachal Pradesh. She successfully cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in 2022 and secured 545th rank.

Yangki's journey stands as a true inspiration to all girls in the state who aspire to achieve what she has.

Meet Tenzin Yangki from Tawang

Tenzin, a pioneer from Tawang village, is reportedly the third generation of civil servants in the family. She is the daughter of Jigmi Choden, a 1992 batch officer of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Services Commission, and the late Thupten Tempa, who was also an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1989 batch. Her father Tempa was an officer in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS ) and IAS, before joining politics.
Yangki is said to be the granddaughter of the late Nyerpa Khow, who played a crucial role in bringing the Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh under Indian rule. Commitment to country is inherent in Yangki, who comes from a lineage of great contributors to India's growth.

According to Arunachal Times, Yangki did her education and bachelor's degree from Assam and then completed her master's degree in political science from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru College, University of Delhi. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Warwick, England.
