'Believe me, it works' I failed my driving test 7 times, but then I passed with a nail trick

As soon as she turned 17, Aaliyah Anderson was determined to become a driver.

She spent thousands of pounds trying to get her driving license but continued to fail when push came to shove on the big day.

She finally passed on her eighth attempt and that was only after following a secret beauty trick that she is now passing on.

Aaliyah from Fife said: “Tip for passing your driving test: get your nails done. Believe me, it works.

“Apparently if you get your nails done you can get through it. I think it might have to do with trust.”

Aaliyah took her first driving test in Kirkcaldy, Fife, in December 2019, but admitted it didn't go as she had hoped.

She kept trying and revealed that it took another 17 months before she finally succeeded in May 2021.

On social media (@xxaaliyahandersonxx), she talked about how she encountered quite a few bumps in the road during the many tests that followed.

She had a panic attack and burst into tears during her second one. As she went through a red light on attempt number five.

After attempt seven, she started to think that driving might not be for her and considered quitting for good.

But after getting her nails done, she passed attempt eight and was able to get behind the wheel of her dream car, an Audi.

She said: “Honestly, the best thing I did was persevere. Don't give up on best friends.”

Aaliyah doesn't know exactly how much she spent on her car trip, but thinks it was a small fortune on the tests alone.

She said: “£736 including hiring the car for the test. It was a tough time for my bank.

“It's actually heartbreaking. I've spent thousands on lessons.

“I paid every cent myself. It gets really frustrating, but trust me, it feels good when it's over for life.

Her fans on social media helped with their tips and advice on how to pass the driving test.

One said: “I agree. I failed and succeeded twice after getting my nails done.

Another said: “I asked if we could listen to music when I was six and passed. However, this was seven years ago. I don't know what the rules are now.”

While Stacy came up with an unusual tip that others agree worked for them.

She said: “I ate two bananas and made sure I had a Lucozade with me. I made myself sound confident and talkative and it felt more natural then.
