The world’s oldest supermodel has revealed the unlikely secrets behind her youthful looks.

British fashionista Daphne Selfe, 95, from Baldock, Hertfordshire, is living proof of the benefits of aging gracefully.

She started her modeling career at the age of 20, and some 60 years later it was still a success. Career highlights include walking the catwalk for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Tate-Naka and Nichiko Koshino, not to mention cameo appearances in numerous Bond films.

But she has to have the age, and this year marks a transition for Daphne because she has moved to a care home, but it is anything but bleak. Funded by the Royal Variety Charity, the living space is as glamorous as Daphne.

To mark her new chapter, the 95-year-old met The Telegraph – and thus revealed the secrets behind her youthful glow.

Daphne’s modeling career began in the 1950s, when she was twenty years old. She promoted breakfast cereals, beer, wine, gin, biscuits and bacon, and her assignments took her across the UK.

She settled in a suburban commuter town and supported her husband in his demanding career as producer of Sunday Night at The Palladium, along with their three children, cats and puppies.

Her career was strangely turned upside down, and it wasn’t until she turned 70 that it led her to the pages of fashion bible Vogue.

In addition to Vogue, Dolce & Gabbana clamored to have her in their advertisements; Marie Claire dressed her in beaded Alice Temperley, and she was flown to China, Chile, Norway, Brazil and New Zealand for various jobs.

She has successfully proven that age is just a number, but there are a few beauty habits that have helped.

“I don’t wear a lot of make-up now, but when I do wear make-up I always take it off at night,” she told The Telegraph. And when it comes to skin care, Daphne doesn’t need anything fancy; instead, the trusty Nivea does the work.

Drinking plenty of water and getting five a day are just as important for the mother of three, who gave a special mention to broccoli.

Nevertheless, Daphne eats what she likes. Although wartime may have influenced her inclinations.

“Growing up during the war, you couldn’t eat too much anyway, and I think that stays with you,” she said.

Although champagne does get a special mention, even though she allows herself a glass every now and then, especially on a special occasion.

In addition to a simple but reliable skin care regimen and a healthy diet, Daphne praised the benefits of being outside in nature.

‘I can no longer walk every day, but I used to. “I always had dogs and horses, which meant I always had to go outside,” she said.

In 2018, Daphne managed to land a beauty campaign at the age of 89 – with makeup brand Eyeko.

The glamorous fashionista appeared in a campaign for the Bespoke Mascara range, as she reflected on her career and her love of cosmetics.

Daphne revealed that she likes having long and thick eyelashes, but now has naturally ‘thin’ eyelashes.

The veteran model got playful with the camera during her clip – cheekily winking across the lens before pouting her pink lipstick-covered mouth.

Daphne is the only octogenarian among a cast of much younger models featured in the beauty campaign, who also speak about their own relationships with make-up.

The campaign wanted to show that ‘there is no one size fits all’ and that make-up can be as varied as the wearer.
