Yodha Box Office Day 1: Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra, Raashi Khanna and Disha Patani released in theaters on March 15. Despite the extravagant promotions, the film got off to a slow start at the box office, causing collections to be lower than expected.

According to Sachnik.com, Yodha, directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, is estimated to gross only Rs 4.25 crore on Day 1. It got an overall Hindi occupancy of 13.86 percent on Friday. Chennai recorded the highest occupancy rate at 43.50 percent, followed by Hyderabad and Jaipur. Meanwhile, the morning shows recorded an occupancy of 10.18 percent, the afternoon shows an occupancy of 11.68 percent, the evening shows an occupancy of 13.29 percent and the night shows the highest occupancy of 20.28 percent.

Yodha vs Bastar

Yodha took on Bastar at the box office. The Naxal Story, a political drama featuring the team of The Kerala Story: actress Adah Sharma, director Sudipto Sen and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah. While Yodha earned Rs 4.25 crore, Bastar collected only Rs 50 lakh on its opening day in theatres.

Sidharth Malhotra on Yodha

Sidharth Malhotra stars in Yodha as an off-duty soldier on a passenger plane hijacked by terrorists. As the engine stops working, he plans to defeat the hijackers and protect the passengers. He recently visited Delhi to promote the film. Speaking at the event, he said, as quoted by news agency ANI: “Yodha is a completely fictional story. We have created a new task force: Yodha. So when you create something from scratch, you can take a lot of freedoms. We did a lot of variations in the film and the action I got to perform is also very different from Shershaah. Here I am more energetic, leaner and use different types of weapons. It’s a much more commercial and entertaining film. I think it has the best action scenes I’ve done in the last ten years.

The high-octane film is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan.
