Barcelona ready to ax SIX first-team stars, including ex-Chelsea boss Alonso

And it looks like there could also be a mass exodus of players, with the club reportedly looking to move to six stars in the summer.

According to Spanish outlet SPORTBarcelona are planning a “new project”, which will mean a new gaffer and five or six departures from the club.

Former Chelsea star Marcos Alonso is among those expected to head for the exits as his contract expires at the end of the season.

La Masia graduate Sergi Roberto is also likely to see his 18-year spell at the Catalan club come to an end with his contract also expiring this summer.

Barcelona are also hoping to raise money by selling some other players amid their recent financial problems.

Oriol Romeu is a name that could be pushed forward with Xavi the driving force behind his arrival at the club this summer.

While ex-Leeds United star Raphinha is another name who could bring in some cash for the cash-strapped outfit.

Raphinha joined Barcelona in 2022 for around £55m and could fetch a similar fee if sold at the end of the season.

The Brazilian has scored 14 goals and 19 assists in his 70 appearances since leaving West Yorkshire for Spain.

Barca will also reportedly look to their backline as a way to raise funds, as there are currently five centre-backs on the payroll.

Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde have all been mentioned as potential victims of the new reconstruction in Catalonia.

Barcelona are currently third in La Liga and eight points behind leaders Real Madrid.

They now face an uphill battle to get back to their best, knowing a new boss will be in charge at the start of next season.
