Deaths on Berowra trains: Man and woman are hit and killed as details of shocking incident are revealed

A man and a woman have died after being hit by a freight train in Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Berowra train station, in the north of the city, after midnight on Friday after reports that two people had been hit by a train.
The man, in his 20s, was helping the woman in her 30s get off the tracks when they were hit.
Their injuries were significant and despite the best efforts of paramedics they died at the scene.
They have not been formally identified.
Officers from the Kuring Gai Police Area Command have cordoned off a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
