Britney Spears responded to mother Lynne Spears‘ recent claims about the pop star’s missing doll collection.
Britney, 41, got to work on it Instagram on Saturday, November 11, to share a gushing note about her first experience meeting a fellow pop star Taylor Swift – with a passionate postscript for Lynne, 68.
“Mom, I love you so much, but there were three dolls in the closets when I went home two years ago,” Britney added. ‘It’s quite strange that you take them out and put them back in. So messed up.”
Britney claimed in her The woman in me memoir, which came out last month, which she realized “realized it.” [she] never wanted to see her family again after they threw away her childhood toys. In the book, Britney claimed she visited her mother in Louisiana during the coronavirus pandemic after her relatives apparently stopped answering calls.
During the visit, Britney discovered that her beloved Madame Alexander doll collection – given to her as a child – had been thrown away, along with years of ‘my writing’ and meaningful original poetry.
However, Lynne has denied her eldest daughter’s claims and claimed that all the dolls are still in her possession.
“I’m not sure who told you I got rid of your dolls and diaries, but I would never do that!” Lynne – who Britney and her siblings share, Bryan Spears And Jamie Lynn Spearswith ex-husband Jamie Spears — wrote on Thursday, November 9 via Instagram. “That would be cruel, because I know how much they mean to you.”
As further evidence, Lynne uploaded several photos of the dolls in question. “They are also special to me because of the years we spent collecting them,” she added. ‘Of course I still have your things, and I’ll be happy to send them to you if you want. Please let me know and know how much I love you!”
On Saturday, Britney announced that she is not interested in receiving the dolls. “No, I don’t want them,” the Grammy winner concluded her Instagram note. “Save it all. I honestly don’t care anymore…honestly.’
The message was included in the footnotes of a gushing post about Britney’s first meeting with Swift, now 33. “During my Oops [I Did It Again] Tour, There was a knock on my door,” Britney recalled. “My good friend at the time was my manager’s assistant who was trying to become a manager himself. There was a knock and then he said, “I’ve got a girl named Taylor who wants to come in and sing for you.” I was like, ‘Of course!!!’”
Britney recalled Swift singing a “beautiful song with her guitar” and being blown away by her “incredible” talent. Britney added: “We took a picture and then she became the most iconic pop woman of our generation. Pretty cool that she’s playing stadiums, and I prefer her videos to movies. She’s gorgeous!!!”
