Cadbury says it has changed chocolate bar recipe, blaming 'changing taste'

A CADBURY fan has hit out at the chocolate giant after it confirmed it has no plans to reverse a recipe change to one of its classic treats.

The beloved chocolate maker responded to a customer on X (formerly Twitter) after they questioned the new flavor of their 'Time Out' delicacy.

The guy from Leeds posted a photo of a half-eaten bar and tagged Cadbury before asking them a question.

In the post he wrote: “Any chance of bringing back the original timeout bar?

“These new ones just aren't the same and are depressing.”

Cadbury answered his question and shared the news as to why it would not be changing the recipe back.

They said: “People's tastes change from time to time, so it's important that we have a wide range of products to cater for everyone.”

But he was not very impressed with the reactions, because he felt that the taste of the new bars was not optimal.

He clapped back with: “But the original clearly tasted better.”

The Time Out bar hit the shelves more than 30 years ago, in 1992, and in the past there were two individual waffles in the package.

But a drastic change took place after the snack company said it was not very popular with customers, reports the Birmingham Post.

Then, they instead released a new, low-calorie, single-wafer version called the Time Out Wafer — which has just 111 calories — after experimenting with the recipe.

And so the original Time Out bar disappeared from the shelves, disappointing the snack's older fans.

Cadbury is constantly making headlines – whether it's the release of a new treat or the relaunch of a previous product – customers are constantly surprised by new choc drops appearing in stores.

Recently, Cadbury brought back their 'Caramilk' bar – but in a very different form.

And Brits were jumping for joy when they noticed brand new chocolate orange mini eggs had landed earlier this year.

Additionally, fans can look forward to a new release of white chocolate Easter eggs – just in time for Easter 2024.
