Claudia Winkleman has announced she will quit her BBC Radio 2 show after 15 years.

The presenter, 51, shared the news with her listeners on Saturday’s show and admitted she wants to spend more time with her daughter.

Claudia’s final show will air in March, after which she will be replaced by Romesh Ranganathan.

The media personality explained that it had been an “absolute privilege” to host the show as she thanked her listeners.

She began, “I would like to share my thoughts. First of all, I’m going to say it out loud and with vim: I love Radio 2.’

Claudia continues: ‘It is an absolute privilege to be here every Saturday to chat with wonderful guests, be Sally and especially read your fantastic posts.

“But the thing is, it’s such a boring cliché, so I apologize. Time is passing too fast, my daughter is getting ready to leave the house and she was three about five minutes ago, I still have a little one who wants to be with me and I just need to be home more.”

‘So my news at 10 o’clock is that I’m leaving, but I have two exceptional news. First of all, the person taking over is one of the funniest and smartest people on the planet, we will love listening to him every Saturday at 10am. Consider this an early Christmas present, the one and only Romesh Ranganathan is going to be here from April and he is majestic.

“Number two, the second good news: the bosses have said I can play an obscene amount of this – and I make no apologies for this –.”

She then performed Oasis hit You Gotta Roll With it.
