A fiery chef who caused a storm after banning vegans from his restaurant is now targeting loved-up couples in the run-up to Valentine's Day.

Restaurant Fyre in Perth, Australia, owned by celebrity chef John Mountain, posted a tempting Valentine's Day offer on its social media pages, but it doesn't apply to parties of two.

Fyre is offering 25 percent off the total bill for tables of three during the romantic getaway – and has stipulated that some sort of 'photo proof' is required to secure the deal.

However, the restaurant did not specify what exactly the photo evidence is supposed to prove.

It's not the first time Fayre – which is run by British-born celebrity chef John Mountain – has posted something unusual and divisive on its social media accounts.

In June last year, Mr Mountain banned vegans from his restaurant after a clash with a disgruntled customer.

She complained that her “only option” was “the vegetable dish… it was okay, but not that filling… and I was shocked to see it cost $32.”

“I think it's incredibly important these days that restaurants can accommodate everyone and not being able to get real plant-based meals shows your shortcomings as a chef,” she added.

The restaurant responded fervently and replied: ''Thank you for your negative review… feel free to share your bad experience and I look forward to seeing you again.

'You and all your vegan friends can all enjoy your dishes at a different location. You are now banished.”

Referring to Mr Mountain's previous ban on vegans in response to the Facebook post advertising the unusual Valentine's Day discount, users took the opportunity to poke fun at the celebrity chef.

One user wrote: 'Two is company, three is a crowd, but I'm taking a vegan with me.'

A second joked: 'I'll book a table if you have vegan options please'.

A third asked: 'Is that for vegans?'

Another seemed excited about the offer, writing: “Yay, you're back.”
