Doctor Who viewers were left ‘sobbing’ after Wilf Noble’s fate was revealed on Saturday after actor Bernard Cribbins died last year at the age of 93.

After the absent character was believed to have died, it was revealed that he was in fact happy and cared for by Kate Stewart (Gemma Redgrave).

While an emotional doctor (David Tennant) seemingly accepted Wilf’s fate by saying ‘he wasn’t young’, Donna (Catherine Tate) exclaimed ‘He’s not dead!’.

‘He lives in a shelter!’.

The emotional ending then saw Donna and The Doctor visit Wilf, who appeared in the series from 2007-2010, for ‘one last time’.

With a second saying: ‘Not that I’m sobbing because Wilf is mentioned, just that he’s not dead.’

A third wrote: ‘Nice moment about Wilf and Bernard Cribbins there’.

And: ‘Kate making sure Wild is taken care of is so sweet omg’.

Another exclaimed: ‘It really got me when Wilf was mentioned.’

Bernard died in July 2022 and Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies led the tributes, declaring the actor ‘a legend has left the world’.
