The Foo Fighters left fans completely dumbfounded when they made a surprise appearance at Glastonbury Festival on Friday.

The rock and roll icons shocked festival-goers as they took the stage at The Pyramid for an impressive hour-long setlist, leading Friday’s star-studded performers.

The slot had been held under the alias The Churnups, with speculation over who would actually appear on stage as the truth remained shrouded in mystery.

Fans previously thought the alias referred to Britpop band Pulp, but the Daily Mail then confirmed that it would be The Foo Fighters who would make the surprise appearance.

The Glastonbury crowd went wild as lead singer Dave Grohl stepped on stage, guitar in hand, and the show began.

Festival-goers and viewers at home alike took to Twitter to share their shock at The Foo Fighter’s surprise performance, with some admitting they “screamed” when they came on.
