Gypsy Rose Blanchard wants to implement prison reform with Kim Kardashian

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is planning her future now that she’s out of prison, and she knows exactly who she wants to collaborate with on her next project: Kim Kardashian.

“I think it would be cool because she has a huge platform for prison reform, and I’ve been to prison,” Blanchard, 32, said Additional in an interview published on Friday, January 5. “So I think with these two elements we can probably do something good for the world.”

Gypsy was released from prison in December 2023 after serving seven years for the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who allegedly abused her throughout her childhood. In 2015, Gypsy and her then boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, were arrested after Dee Dee was found dead of multiple stab wounds in her home in Springfield, Missouri. She was 48.

Gypsy, who planned the crime with 34-year-old Godejohn, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016. She was released on parole in September 2023. (Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.)

While Kardashian hasn’t spoken out about a potential collaboration with Gypsy, it’s true that the reality star, 43, is passionate about prison reform. Kardashian previously worked with the former president Donald Trump‘s son-in-law Jared Kushner to obtain a pardon for Alice Johnsonwho was sentenced to life in prison in 1996 after being convicted of drug possession.

In 2018, Trump, 77, granted her clemency and commuted her sentence. Kardashian has since worked to free several other former prisoners, including Momolu Stewart, Judith Negron And Tynice Hall.

Kardashian has also studied to become a lawyer, as she revealed in a 2019 interview with Fashion. In December 2021, she announced that she had passed the baby bar exam, which tests students who have not attended law school.

“When I look in the mirror, I am really proud of the woman who looks back in the reflection today,” Kardashian wrote via Instagram at the time. “For anyone who is not familiar with my law school experience, please know that this was not easy and was not handed to me. I failed this exam three times in two years, but each time I got back up, studied harder and tried again until I passed!!!”

The Skims co-founder then called out her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was a lawyer before his death in 2003.

“I know my dad would be so proud and shocked to know that this is my path now, but he would have been my best study partner,” Kim wrote. “I was told he was infamous for making fun of people who didn’t pass their first try like he did, but he would have been my biggest cheerleader!”
