A TIKTOKER has revealed the hilarious moment she bragged to family, friends and colleagues about winning £1million in the lottery – only to realize it was actually 20p.

The less fortunate woman woke up in the morning to a message saying she had won the massive jackpot.

Taking to social media, the Northern Ireland lottery player said she bought herself a lucky dip and thought nothing of it until she woke up the next day to a message on her phone.

The woman, who goes by the username @weezyhayes, said: “I woke up and checked my phone, I had an email from the national lottery saying 'you've won a prize'.

“I thought, have a nice day, this is great, I probably won a fiver or something.”

But she was stunned to discover the email told her she had won a life-changing £1 million.

The exact message read: “UK Millionaire Maker, one £1 million prize, click here to see how to claim your prize.”

After assuming she had just become a millionaire, she immediately woke up her partner Chris.

She continued: “I said, 'Chris, Chris get up, look at my phone, Chris, I think I've got one million pounds'.”

Chris agreed and she clicked on the link to find out how to get the huge amount, only to find she had to wait a whopping three hours until the Lotto offices opened at 8am.

I was a millionaire for months without knowing it – I missed crucial email and called the police because I was convinced it was a scam

She continued: “I texted the family group chat 'call me as soon as you see this, I think I've got a million quid.'”

She then called her brother and mother, but said neither seemed very impressed by her winning news.

She said: 'I might as well have told him I'd won a free sanitary towel.

“My mother's reaction was about the same: she said to call her when it was confirmed.

“I got in my car to go to work and called my best friend Jack because I knew he would be up at that time.

“Jack and I are discussing what to do with this money.”

Believing she was on the verge of becoming a millionaire, her plan was to reduce her hours at work to 30 hours a week, “refurbish” her kitchen and save £900,000 for the future.

When she arrived at work, her coworkers noticed that she was acting differently than usual and kept asking her if she was okay.

She said: “I thought no, I think I've won a million pounds but I have to wait until 8am to call them and check.”

What is the British Millionaire Maker?

The UK Millionaire Maker guarantees multiple winners in every draw and ticket holders have claimed seven-figure gold mines since its inception in 2016.

The EuroMillions explains on its website: “You are automatically entered into the Millionaire Maker draw when you play the UK version of EuroMillions.

“It's a lottery that guarantees that at least one lucky player will win £1 million in every draw.

“There are also regular promotional draws when multiple cardholders become millionaires on the same night.”

And during that phone call, she was told that her winnings were just a smidge less than what she had first thought.

She said: “I called the office at 8am and they went through all my ticket information, did a number of checks and confirmed I had won a prize.

“You won £2.70” they said, the ticket cost £2.50, I made 20p.

“It turns out this UK Millionaire Maker thing pops up on everyone's screen and underneath it is a code and you have to compare your numbers.

“I didn't know this information, I have purple hair, but I might as well be blonde.”

Finally she went back to work and everyone asked her if she had won.

Then she had to hilariously reveal that she had only won 20 cents.

She said: “All these other nurses started wetting themselves laughing and they made me call my friend on speaker phone and say, 'Chris, I didn't win a million, I won 20 cents'

Seeing the funny side of it, she said that for at least a few hours she knew what it felt like to be a millionaire, adding, “But you know, for three whole hours of my life I thought I was a millionaire, no one can do that. Take that away from me.”

She's not the only disappointed lotto player either; players across Britain have achieved false victories that they hoped would free them from ever having to work again.

One couple thought they had collected a whopping £182 million, but when they were told there was a payment problem they were unable to claim the prize.

And due to a silly mistake, these winners lost over £30 million.

But maybe it's a good thing that some say winning a jackpot ruined their lives.
