The evil criminal was sentenced to life in prison in 2009 after he held his daughter Elisabeth captive in a bunker near his home in Amstetten for 24 years and fathered seven children with her.

The 88-year-old told A court today in Krems an der Donau that he deeply regretted his actions and that he had tackled the crimes “intensely”.

The ruling means he can now reapply for release to a nursing home within a year.

His lawyer Dr. Astrid Wagner said the monster was ordered to continue regular therapy sessions.

She also refuted previous reports that he was drinking coffee and revealed that the first thing he would do when released is get a beer.

REPENTANCE

She continued: “Today's hearing was a very important first step towards his release to a nursing home.

“In Austria you can apply for parole after fifteen years, while he has already been in prison for sixteen years.

“It is probably still a bit too early to submit an application for release to a nursing home now. But this time next year, the chances are greater.

“Even if he is released, it will be like a prison because of his age.

“For an almost 90-year-old man, he is in good physical condition – the same as 16 years ago – but he cannot go for a walk.

“But because of his dementia he thinks people have invited him to parties, so he has these problems.”

After spending 15 years behind bars for his horrific crimes, his lawyer insists he is “100 percent rehabilitated” and “he would never do it again.”

She said: “He is a different person now, these sixteen years have changed him, he is a very humble person now.

'He also promised me not to commit suicide. There was something on his mind a few years ago that he was very depressed.”

She added: “We have a new psychiatric report which says he is not a danger to anyone.

“He's having a little trouble with the Dementiabut only a little.”
