Inside David and Candice Warner’s palatial seven-storey clifftop mansion, complete with a ‘bat cave’, swimming pool and private beach – after the cricketer announced his semi-retirement

David and Candice Warner are enjoying the batsman’s retirement from Test cricket at their palatial seaside mansion in Maroubra.

After purchasing the property for $3.9 million in 2015, the Warner family demolished the existing home for a complete rebuild — and the end results are nothing short of stunning.

The ocean-view property spans a whopping seven floors and features a ‘bat cave’ housing David’s sports memorabilia and vast bat collection, a private beach and epic clifftop views.

‘[David and Candice] stay in the best hotels in the world and wanted to evoke that same feeling of luxury and sophistication here,” said interior designer Alexandra Kidd. The Australian.

“But at the same time, it’s also a beach house, and we wanted them to feel comfortable enough to walk in from the beach, take off their shoes and really relax.”

The master bedroom suite is luxurious, with Japanese-designed wallpaper and soft silk carpet.

It also features a wellness center with a gym, sauna and steam shower.

The couple’s three children – daughters Ivy Mae, Indi Rae and Isla Rose – were also included in the home’s design.

‘A lot of attention for the children is outside; they are a very active, sporty family,” Kidd told the publication.

To keep the kids busy, the outdoor area is complete with activity rooms, hanging chairs, built-in trampolines and soft grass areas for gymnastics and more.

It comes after Candice shared an insight into what her husband’s new career could look like after he announced his semi-retirement from Test cricket last week.

Warner hit a match-winning 57 runs in his final innings to help Australia secure victory at the SCG and complete a 3-0 win over Pakistan to give him the perfect farewell to red-ball cricket.

A fixture at the top of the order for his country, Warner has scored huge numbers during his illustrious career, sparking debate over his place among Australia’s greatest cricketers of all time.

However, his record has been questioned, with Warner performing much better on home soil compared to his record abroad. England bowler Stuart Broad has long tormented the opener with his poor deliveries during their Ashes battles.

Warner’s role in the infamous 2018 sandpaper scandal has also led to investigations into his legacy. Former teammate Mitchell Johnson slammed Cricket Australia for giving Warner his swan song for his contribution to the darkest day in the country’s sporting history.

But Candice praised David’s “resilience” and said she was “not that sad” that he was leaving the sport.

As for what David plans to do next, she said the couple’s family will be given priority and that will be “magical” for them.

“The next six months won’t actually look much different than we’re used to,” she said. The Daily Telegraph.

She explained: ‘David can take the girls to cricket, take the girls to football on Sunday’ and pick them up from school.
