Although an average cheetah is much heavier than Xartrux, they are between four and six feet tall – a bracket that Xartrux falls comfortably into.

Xartrux, a Maine Coon breed, is expected to be naturally large, due to the breed’s title as one of the largest in the world.

But it has become so monumental that owners Marcia Oliveira and Jean Martins, from Jau, have stepped in Sao Pauloclaim them pet is longer and heavier than the largest domestic cat currently alive.

They have reportedly filed their case with Guinness World Records in January, with footage of a grumpy-looking Xartrux taking part in the Rio Cat Club exhibition in March 2023.

Marcia said: “He was born at home and was the smallest kitten in the litter, weighing less than 80 grams.

“He was very small, we thought he wouldn’t develop, but little by little he passed his brothers.

‘I didn’t think he would get so big.

“But at four months old, he was already a bigger cat than normal and excelled in competitions.”

The couple has been breeding Maine Coon cats since 2013.

The breed is one of the largest in the world and was previously considered the largest until the introduction of the Savannah cat in the mid-1980s.

On average, male Maine Coons can weigh between 8 and 10 kg.

Marcia said: “He meets all the standards of the breed, size, docility, a sweet, sweet, sociable, good-natured, lazy cat, he does what he wants with us!”

Xartrux is not the only Maine Coon to amaze its owner with its rapid growth.

Photographer Chastity had no idea her cat Kusa would grow so big it barely fit in her arms.

The cat mom couldn’t believe it when her adorable kitten wouldn’t stop growing, even though people worried her cat was a dangerous animal.

Last year, another pet owner who claimed she had the largest cat in the world said the cat was as tall as her four-year-old daughter.

Yuli Minina is looking forward to it Instagram to show her followers shocking images of her Maine Coon standing on its hind legs and letting itself out into the garden.
