21 bombshells claims made in Omid Scobie’s new Royal book Endgame: From taking aim at ‘cold’ Kate to Harry and William’s ‘irreparable’ rift

Omid Scobie‘s new book has thrown numerous bombshells at the Royals, bringing old feuds to the surface and taking aim at some of it’s most loved family members.

The author, who is a close confidant of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, is set to release his latest work, Endgame, on Tuesday in Britain. 

Its contents are already causing a stir, with leaked passages portraying the Princess of Wales as a ‘cold’ woman who ‘ignored’ Meghan Markle’s cries for help during her struggles with royal life.

Other sections claim King Charles is a ‘pampered’ monarch, branding him and the institution behind him as ‘incompetent’ while also alleging that Prince William rejects his father’s advice and was the driving force behind stripping the Duke of York of his royal duties.

Another topic that rears its head is the frayed relationship between the Firm and the Sussexes, with Mr Scobie claiming there’s an ‘irreparable’ rift between William and Harry, and that Meghan was blasted by Princess Michael for making ‘it all about race’.

Below are some of the the biggest bombshell claims that have been made in the new book:

‘Cold’ Kate ‘ignored Meghan’s cries for help’ and ‘jokingly shivers’ when she hears her sister-in-law’s name 

Omid Scobie launched an astonishing and cruel attack on the Princess of Wales, branding her ‘cold’ and lambasting her for ‘advocating for mental health causes while ignoring Meghan’s cries for help’.

Harry and Meghan’s ‘cheerleader-in-chief’ took aim at Kate in his new book Endgame, which has been published in Australia, claiming she ‘shivers’ whenever Meghan’s name is brought up and hasn’t spoken to her since 2019.

He claims the Princess of Wales has never had interest in being friends with her sister-in-law and branded her a ‘Stepford-like royal wife’ and the monarchy’s ‘last shiny thing for many years to come’.

In a scathing chapter dedicated to the future Queen, Mr Scobie says the royal earned the nickname ‘Katie Keen’ and claimed the late Queen liked her because she was ‘coachable’ unlike the ‘strong-minded’ Princess Diana.

Mr Scobie added that Kate ‘glides under the radar’ because she’s ‘never challenged the system with public struggles or oversized aspirations’.

He adds she is ‘comfortable in her role’ and ‘willing to bring the requisite smile and elegance to her duties as princess’.

‘At the very least the institution ignored Meghan when she was in pain. It’s a dismal record, and with William now openly claiming his mother was essentially too paranoid to speak the truth, it proves the institution still operates under the principle that women not born into the family are, ultimately, disposable.’

He claims her workload is lower than other senior members of The Firm – which he says makes her ‘technically a part time working royal’.

Letters between Charles and Meghan reveal the names of two people who ‘commented on Archie’s skin colour’ 

Mr Scobie claimed letters between King Charles III and Meghan Markle reveal the names of two people who allegedly commented on Archie’s skin colour.

Speaking in an interview with ABC to publicise the book, the author claimed he could not reveal the identities of the two people for fear of legal reprisals in the UK.

But he said letters were exchanged between Charles and Meghan following the allegation in the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

In an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America broadcast today, Mr Scobie was asked whether he knew who made the comments about Archie’s skin colour.

He said: ‘I do know who made the comments about Archie’s skin colour. The names were mentioned in letters between Meghan and Charles that were exchanged some time after the Oprah interview.

‘We know from sources that Charles was horrified that that’s how Meghan felt. Those conversations were, and that he wanted to, sort of as a representative for the family, have that conversation with her.

‘And it is why I personally think they have been able to move forward with some kind of line of communication afterwards. Though they may not see eye to eye on it.’

Mr Scobie’s claims threaten to reignite the ‘royal racist’ row that came about after Harry and Meghan’s interview.

Meghan had alleged in the TV special that an unnamed member of the Royal Family spoke about ‘how dark his (Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born’.

But it is now being claimed that a second member of the extended Royal Household – who may not be a member of the Royal Family itself – also made similar comments.

Prince William allegedly leaked stories about his younger brother to the press, causing ‘irreparable damage’ to their relationship

Among the other claims made in the book are that Prince William leaked stories about Harry to the press.

Mr Scobie told ABC News today that William had shared ‘private information about his brother that ended up on the front page of a newspaper not long later’. 

He added: ‘These are things that have cause irreparable damage in the relations between each other.’

Describing William as a ‘company man’, he said: ‘We have seen the emergence of a man who is much harder, who seems to have embraced and embodied the royal institution’.

In the book the royal biographer also claims that the first in line to the throne has ‘inherited Prince Philip’s assertiveness when it comes to protecting the Crown’.

However, allies of the Prince of Wales have hit out at suggestions he leaked information to the media, calling it the ‘very opposite’ of William’s personal mantra.

One source told the Mail: ‘He has always been very tight-lipped when it comes to his family and made clear to anyone within his orbit that he would not do ‘deals’ with the media.

‘Like Harry, he is scarred by his childhood experiences, seeing his mother and father engaged in what was dubbed ‘the war of the Waleses’. He never wanted history to repeat itself.

‘That was something that he and Harry were meant to be united on.’

Another added: ‘It’s one thing writing a critique of the Royal Family. That’s freedom of expression. But it’s another thing to peddle conspiracy theories dressed up as fact. The suggestion that [royal aides] were briefing negative stories [about Harry and Meghan] is totally fabricated. It just didn’t happen.

‘The truth is that everyone was walking on eggshells practically from the engagement trying to keep them happy.’

Prince William ‘set the wheels in motion’ for stripping Andrew of his royal duties because he thought the family was being ‘too soft’

In the book the Prince of Wales is described as being a key figure behind the scenes within the Firm, with Mr Scobie claiming he played a big part in the decision to strip Prince Andrew of his royal duties. 

The then-Duke of Cambridge is alleged to have been the driving force behind Andrew’s banishment from public life, even going so far as to speak directly with the Queen about the best course of action, Scobie writes in his new book Endgame.

It was a move that eventually saw Andrew stripped of his military affiliations and patronages in January 2022 after his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and accusations of sexual assault against him came to the public eye.

The author, who is known for his close association with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, writes that the disgraced royal’s sex assault case still casts a shadow over the institution and ‘can still inflict considerable damage to the monarchy’.

Mr Scobie claims Prince William felt the Queen would be ‘soft’ on Prince Andrew unless he voiced his concerns directly to her.

The author claims that Prince William put the plan to oust Prince Andrew into action with his private secretary as the late Queen and the then Prince Charles were ‘not ready’ to start the process themselves.

As Prince Philip was no longer there to ‘take charge’, Prince William consulted his team about ‘the Andrew problem’ and then set up a meeting with his grandmother and her private secretary in her residential quarters at Windsor.

After allegedly speaking with Prince William for over an hour, the Queen then phoned Charles in Scotland to tell him that they needed to strip Andrew of his titles and duties.

The author claims it was a’ genuinely sad’ moment for the Queen and a ‘gut punch’ for the family following Prince Philip’s death.

Prince Andrew resigned from public duties in May 2020 before he was then stripped of his military titles and patronages by the Queen in 2022.

The Prince of Wales sees his father as not competent and has a completely different leadership style modelled on the Queen

The new book also quotes a source who claims William and his father don’t see eye to eye on every issue, with the Prince of Wales admiring his grandmother’s reign. 

Mr Scobie claims William admired the Queen’s political neutrality and wants to mirror her reign more than Charles’.

What’s more, a source close to the Prince of Wales claims he sees Charles as a ‘transitional’ King – who will ‘pave the way’ for his reign.

A source said: ‘William [doesn’t’] think his father is competent enough, quite frankly.

‘Though they share similar passions and interests, their style of leadership is completely different’.

Mr Scobie said this can be seen in the way he dealt with the Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein scandal, with William keen to take decisive action while his father delayed. 

In the book a source close to King Charles is quoted as saying: ‘You’d find it hard to believe but [Charles lay] awake many nights worrying about [Andrew].’

According to the author, Prince William was ‘baffled’ by why his father was agonising over the decision – and wanted him to take decisive action.

Following Andrew’s removal from the public eye, the Duke of York continues to be supported financially by the King, although Mr Scobie says this can’t be expected to continue if William ascends to the throne.

He writes: ‘While King Charles has, so far, shown no inclination of conclusively stopping his support for his wayward brother, Andrew would be foolish to think that William will unquestionably support his uncle in the same way.

‘It’s fair to say, the next King is the one in the family who inherited Prince Philip’s assertiveness when it comes to protecting the Crown. Until then, though, Andrew remains a wild card and one that can still inflict considerable damage to the monarchy’.

King Charles evicted Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage to ‘punish’ couple for Netflix series 

King Charles removing Frogmore Cottage from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a ‘cheap shot’ to ‘punish’ the couple, according to Mr Scobie.

He writes that sources confirmed a ‘significant’ part of the reason for Charles evicting the Sussexes was ‘undoubtedly’ a punishment after the Netflix series came out last December with a series of attacks on the Royal Family.

The author said a source told him there was a ‘feeling of shock and disappointment’ from Harry and Meghan on the day they were told they would be losing the property.

Mr Scobie claimed Frogmore was the Sussexes’ ‘only truly safe option when visiting the United Kingdom’ because its grounds are surrounded by armed guards – and the couple could no longer access royal protection, even if they paid for it themselves.

Several days after finding out they would lose the home, Harry was said to have spoken to his father over the phone, saying: ‘Do you want to see your grandchildren?’

Charles is said to have been silent before a ‘half-hearted declaration that they would always have ‘somewhere to stay’.’

But Mr Scobie said this ‘didn’t give Harry much hope’, according to a royal source.

He wrote: ‘For Charles, the issue of Frogmore Cottage wasn’t just about punishing his son, though sources say that ‘undoubtedly’ played a significant role.

‘It was also part of the effort to streamline the portfolio of properties being used by members of the family.’

Harry and Meghan were asked to move remaining possessions out of their UK home in Windsor just weeks after Harry also criticised his family in his book Spare in January.

Mr Scobie added: ‘Staying mum about Harry’s accusations and remaining publicly unconcerned for his son’s wellbeing while ending his family’s lease on a safe UK residence was not a decisive action by a resolute King.

‘It was a cheap shot from a wounded father bound by an institutional system that is often intolerant of human emotion’. 

The Princess of Wales is too terrified to do anything but ‘grinning photo ops’ 

The author also portrays the Princess of Wales as a woman terrified to do anything but grinning photo opportunities.

In an interview published last week to plug his latest book, Mr Scobie said: ‘The small achievements that we’ve seen from the Princess of Wales wouldn’t perhaps be noticed if it was from another member of the Royal Family, but with Kate it’s like ‘wow!’ ‘

His cruel swipe – described by a friend of the Princess as ‘horribly unjust’ – will infuriate the Royal Family.

Insiders said that in the past few years the Princess – intelligent, hard-working and passionate about the causes she promotes – has proved popular with the public.

But in a telling indication of the scornful tone of the new book, Scobie says that ‘we infantilise [Kate] massively so the bar is always lower’.

The attack aimed at Kate has been lambasted by palace sources, with one claiming the portrayal of the Princess of Wales ‘will really wind William up’. 

They said: ‘He [William] is immensely proud of what his wife has achieved. 

‘The princess has been the driving force behind a great deal of their work, particularly when it comes to bettering mental health.’

Insiders said that in the past few years the Princess – intelligent, hard-working and passionate about the causes she promotes – has proved popular with the public.

Charles is a ‘pampered’ royal who has his shoelaces ironed for him

King Charles is a ‘pampered’ royal who has his shoelaces ironed for him, Harry and Meghan’s biographer has claimed.

Author Omid Scobie makes the claims in his new book which also alleges His Majesty insists on travelling with luxurious perfectly steamed 1,000-thread-count bed linen.

In another snide attack Scobie says Charles likes to have someone squeeze one inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush for him as part as his bedtime routine.

An extract from the 42-year-old’s new book reads: ‘When laces get even the smallest bit threadbare, a staff member must quickly switch them out with a fresh, ironed pair.

‘There is even a rumour (one that, surprisingly, sources have confirmed) that Charles likes to have someone squeeze exactly one inch of toothpaste on to his toothbrush for him ahead of his bedtime routine.’

However, the claims that His Majesty is out of touch and demands his shoelaces are ironed have been blasted as untrue by palace sources.

One told the Mail: ‘That was total bull**** when it first surfaced 20 years ago, and still is now.’

Insiders also maintain that a number of significant claims made by Scobie are ‘just plain wrong’ and ‘rehashed’.

Princess Michael of Kent blasted Meghan for making ‘it all about race because that’s all everyone does these days’ 

Mr Scobie claims Princess Michael of Kent said the Duchess of Sussex had ‘made it all about race because that’s all everyone does these days’.  

Harry and Meghan’s ‘cheerleader-in-chief’ said, seemingly quoting the royal: ”Well… we could already guess what someone like her would be like. I saw it coming from miles away.’

‘At a March 2021 meeting in her Kensington Palace apartment, Princess Michael of Kent – wife of the [late] Queen’s first cousin Prince Michael of Kent – couldn’t stop herself from indulging in gossip with an aide about Meghan.

‘Princess Michael has never been much of a fan of Prince Harry’s wife,’ the author added, before claiming the 78-year-old royal said: ”Meghan’s made it all about race because that’s all everyone does these days.”

The comments were said to have been shared after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

Meanwhile, Princess Michael of Kent came under fire when she wore a controversial ‘blackamoor’ brooch to the Queen’s Christmas lunch in 2017, which was the first attended by Meghan. Some commentators claimed the piece was ‘racist’.

Princess Michael publicly apologised at the time and the palace released a statement saying she ‘is very sorry and distressed that it has caused offence’.

Charles was ‘cold and brief’ in ‘awkward’ phone call with Harry after the release of the Duke’s memoir

Prince Harry called his father Charles following the release of his memoir Spare but their conversation was ‘awkward’ and the King was ‘cold and brief’, Mr Scobie claims.

Endgame quoted an unnamed friend of the Duke of Sussex who said that Charles was not ‘open to any proper dialogue’.

A friend of Harry’s had encouraged him to call Charles after the book came out in January, which the author said followed months of the King ‘keeping his distance’.

Mr Scobie wrote: ‘Despite the many opportunities to discuss his grievances ahead of the publication of the book, Charles instead chose to keep his distance for months.

‘Harry and his father swapped a few words over Christmas 2022, but it wasn’t until after the January 10, 2023, release of the memoir that they had their first proper conversation.

‘Encouraged by a close friend, the Duke of Sussex reached out to Charles by phone to try to discuss some of the unresolved issues between them.’ 

Mr Scobie then quotes a friend of Harry’s, saying: ‘It was an awkward conversation, but he knew if he didn’t make those first steps, there would never be any progress.

‘There were no raised voices, no arguments… but the King was cold and brief rather than open to any proper dialogue.’

Mr Scobie said the lack of ‘significant resolution or outcome’ from the discussion showed that Charles had ‘once again wasted an opportunity to take the upper hand and let bygones be bygones for the sake of family harmony.’

The King branded Harry a ‘fool’ after the Duke’s Netflix series as palace aides had ‘heads in their hands’ after it was released

In the book King Charles is also sensationally accused of branding his son Prince Harry ‘that fool’ following the Duke of Sussex’s bombshell Netflix documentary.

Harry made a series of allegations against the Royal Family in the series released in December last year as part of his £80million deal with the streaming network.

This prompted a furious reaction from his father according to a new book about the Royal Family by Mr Scobie, the royal author dubbed ‘Meghan’s mouthpiece’.

An extract from the book – due to be released tomorrow – in The Sun on Sunday said Mr Scobie wrote: ‘At the Palace, heads were in hands and migraines were brewing.

‘(The show) took the wind out of everyone’s sails,’ said one aide. ‘(He) went from not wanting anyone to talk about his son to openly criticising ‘that fool’.’ 

In the  hit Netflix series Harry made dramatic claims Kensington Palace ‘lied to protect my brother’ when it issued a statement denying a story William had bullied him out of the royal family.

And he accused Charles of lying at the tense Megxit crisis meeting with the Queen in January 2020. 

Both Buckingham and Kensington Palace have remained silent over Harry’s allegations in the series that the Prince of Wales left his brother terrified after screaming and shouting at him during the Sandringham summit. 

Queen Camilla personally thanked Piers Morgan for his help in ‘defending the firm’ after the Oprah interview

Mr Scobie claims that Queen Camilla sent a message of ‘gratitude’ to Piers Morgan after he nicknamed Meghan Markle ‘Princess Pinocchio’.

The King’s wife allegedly thanked the British journalist and broadcaster for ‘defending The Firm’ and ‘standing up’ to the Duchess of Sussex after her and Harry’s volley of attacks on the royals when they spoke to Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

After the couple’s interview was broadcast on CBS and ITV to tens of millions of people around the world, Mr Morgan, 58, tweeted that he ‘wouldn’t believe [Meghan] if she read me a weather report.’ 

He then nicknamed Ms Markle ‘Princess Pinocchio’ in his column for MailOnline. He later left his job as host of ITV’s Good Morning Britain when Meghan and her supporters complained about his coverage.

According to the New York Post, Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame claims that Queen Camilla sent a message to Piers to thank him for his support of the Royal Family, who were accused by the Sussexes of being racist towards Archie and ignoring Meghan while she claims she was suicidal.

Mr Scobie claims that a royal aide told him that Camilla would never address Meghan and Harry’s attacks publicly, but showed ‘gratitude’ to Piers because ‘somebody was standing up’ to Meghan. Some sources claimed she may have sent him a note.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment. MailOnline has asked Piers Morgan to comment.

The Queen had ‘a slight lack of faith’ in Charles to take over the Firm and hired ex-MI5 boss to be her ‘new CEO’ 

The late Queen had a ‘slight lack of faith’ in her son Charles to take over The Firm and hired someone to act as ‘eyes and ears’ in the final months of her life, the book claims.

A passage in Endgame claims Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, who passed away at the age of 96 in September 2022, began to accept her health was declining towards the end of the Covid pandemic.

It details how she hired Andrew Parker, Baron Parker of Minsmere as the new Lord Chamberlain (the post for the senior officer of the Royal Household) in the Spring of 2021; as the ‘slow transition’ to King Charles’s rule was underway.

Mr Scobie quotes royal sources who claimed that the decision to hire Baron Parker; the former head of MI5, whom she reportedly referred to as ‘my new CEO’ of The Firm during a conversation with a senior member of the royal family, pointed to the Queen’s ‘slight lack of faith’ in her son.

The claims come in the passage of the royal book which is published at midnight in the UK; and which also contains details inside the late monarch’s final days at Balmoral before she died on September 8.

Such details include that members of the royal family were each allowed a private moment alone with Queen Elizabeth following her death in September 2022.

In Scobie’s description of September 8 when the Queen passed away, her two eldest children, Charles and Anne, had been by her side overnight; while Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie and Prince William made the journey to Scotland on the day; shortly before 4pm and were each allowed a private moment with her following her death.

Elsewhere in the book, the author details how the Queen’s last summer at Balmoral was largely peaceful; but despite ailing health she remained committed to her duty – particularly when it came to overseeing a change of UK prime minister two days before she died.

Scobie writes that, despite several palace aides encouraging the monarch to allow Prince Charles (who was staying less than 10 miles away) to accept Boris Johnson’s official resignation and perform ‘the kissing of hands’ with incoming prime minister Liz Truss, the Queen insisted she carry out this important duty, telling aides: ‘It’s my job.’

Scobie writes that, in private, the late monarch was in ‘crippling pain’, but insisted in public that she must carry out her royal duty.

He quoted people close to the palace who said the late Queen’s final summer at Balmoral was filled with ‘walks, picnics and barbecues’, and the monarch enjoyed sitting in the sunshine much of the time.

Harry and Meghan ‘still hurt’ over the delay in giving Archie and Lilibet their Prince and Princess titles 

In the book Mr Scobie claims the Sussexes are still hurt over the row about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s titles.

The author claims Harry and Meghan are ‘genuinely happy’ in their new life in California, but that they are still scarred by the fact it took several months for their children’s titles to be updated to ‘prince’ and ‘princess’.

According to royal convention, Scobie says, the titles of the Sussexes’ children should have been automatically updated when King Charles ascended the throne.

However, it was six months before Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, had their titles updated on the Buckingham Palace website.

Scobie claims that King Charles had ‘initially avoided the subject’ of the children’s titles, but told Prince Harry that he would ‘make it official’ in early 2023. He reports that the subject was then ‘casually mentioned’ to Prince Harry by the King’s press secretary the following month.

Eventually, the official changes were made on the Buckingham Palace website, but the delay in doing so reportedly led the Sussexes to compare themselves to the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children.

A friend of Harry and Meghan’s told Scobie the couple ‘see the way their children are treated differently’ to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, which is ‘hard to feel comfortable with’.

Kate and Meghan were encouraged to ‘cosplay’ as Diana by aides hoping ‘her shine would rub off on them’

Mr Scobie also sensationally claims that the Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle were encouraged to dress like Diana so a bit of her ‘shine could rub off on them’. 

The author claims in his new book about the royal family that the pair were urged to essentially ‘cosplay’ as their husbands’ mother.

The Sussexes’ biographer writes that Kate, 41, and Meghan, 42, would sometimes be given outfits based on ideas which used photos of the late Princess of Wales for inspiration.

The 42-year-old quotes a royal source as saying that William, 41, and Harry, 39, were consulted anytime it was suggested that their wives be dressed in a style similar to their late mother.

In it, Scobie writes that Kate and Meghan both wear jewellery that once belonged to their late mother-in-law, adding that a ‘huge amount of effort’ is put into ‘channelling her exact look’ and this is ‘sometimes beyond the pale’.

He adds: ‘During the past thirteen years, Diana cosplay has become a royal staple.’

The author continues: ‘Were there gentle pushes from others? At times, yes. It had been known for someone to go back and pull images of Diana at a certain place or time for ideas.

‘At the right moment this can be a sweet gesture, but there is also a slightly queasy feeling when you realise it’s often orchestrated within the same system that contributed to her living misery, and an institution that still wants some of Diana’s shine to rub off on them.’

Meghan has no intention of returning to England and wants to avoid the ‘royal soap opera’

Mr Scobie repeats previous claims that the Duchess of Sussex ‘never wants to set foot in England again’, ‘never felt at home’ in the UK and ‘never wants to be involved in the British monarchy again’.

The author suggests that her son Archie’s fourth birthday – which coincided with the coronation – was simply an excuse for her to avoid the ceremony.

At the time, Harry announced he would be travelling to the UK without his wife, who was remaining in California to look after their children.

The Prince was reported to have voiced concerns over security and the reputation his family could receive from the public. Other reports suggested Meghan had been left upset after a letter from Charles did not address claims she had made about her poor mental health.

At the time, Mr Scobie said Archie’s birthday ‘played a factor in the decision’ and he expected it would be a ‘fairly quick trip to the UK’ for Harry.

But he’s now claimed in Endgame that Meghan didn’t attend because she refused to ‘dive back into the soap opera of the court’.

Meghan and Harry’s favoured reporter has been friendly with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and co-wrote their 2020 biography Finding Freedom.

Sussex insiders have recently indicated to MailOnline Harry and Meghan had nothing to do with Scobie’s latest release amid a series of extracts being released from the book which casts cruel jibes at almost every member of the Royals.

Queen Camilla has ‘no relationship’ with Prince Harry despite her ‘great sympathy’ for what Meghan went through

The new book also claims that Queen Camilla has no relationship with her youngest stepson. 

According to the tome, while the queen has ‘great sympathy’ for what Meghan went through, a royal source told the author that she has ‘no respect for the way they handled themselves’.

Conversely, while her relationships with Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, is non-existent, the book claims that Camilla and her husband King Charles, now enjoy ‘laugh-filled’ lunches will William and Kate.

The book points out that while Camilla is a rock for Charles, while William and Harry accepted that, it took some time for them to develop any kind of relationship.

But like the public (which, the book says, ‘finally…tolerated, then later accepted’ the Duchess of Cornwall) Prince William has become closer to his stepmother.

In fact, according to author Omid Scobie: ‘In the early days it would have been unimaginable to think that one day William and Kate would meet Charles and Camilla for laugh-filled lunches, but the two couples have grown increasingly closer over the years, especially since the Sussexes’ departure.’  

William ‘ignored’ Harry’s texts when he was trying to reach Balmoral to see the Queen in the hours before her death

In the book Mr Scobie claims that Prince William ignored texts from his younger brother asking how to get to get to Balmoral to be with their grandmother in her final moments.

The Sussexes’ favoured royal reporter insists that the Duke of Sussex was ‘completely by himself’ as he scrambled to get to Balmoral on September 8, 2022.

In the novel Mr Scobie writes of the moment that Harry tried to contact his brother after being told by his father to go to the Scottish estate.

He writes: ‘William, whom Charles had just spoken to, was supposedly working on arranging travel. Harry sent a text message to his brother asking how he and Kate planned to get to Scotland and whether they could travel together. No response.

‘Harry sent another text to his brother. Nothing. Though there were available seats on William’s chartered Dassault Falcon private jet, which was leaving in less than an hour, Harry was left to fend for himself.

‘William ignored him,’ said a family source. ‘He clearly didn’t want to see his brother.’ Princess 

‘Eugenie reached out to Harry to see if he had any more information about their grandmother. She had heard from another family member that it was ‘time’ but knew little more’.

It is the second time the confusion surrounding the scramble to get to Scotland has been touched upon in a royal book, with Harry writing about it in his memoir Spare.

The Duke of Sussex wrote: ‘I immediately texted Willy to ask whether he and Kate were flying up. If so, when? And how?. No response. Meg and I looked at flight options’.

King Charles and Prince William are ‘allowing selfish agendas and family discord to take over the House of Windsor’

Mr Scobie claims King Charles and Prince William are ‘scheming and backstabbing’ against one another in a ‘tussle for the spotlight’ after the Queen’s death,

The author says the monarch and his heir are ‘pursuing selfish agendas’ and ‘one-upmanship’ that threatens their relationship, Elizabeth II’s legacy and the future of the Crown.

He calls it a Shakespearean tragedy of ‘scheming and backstabbing’ between ‘the favoured prince and an unpopular king’.

The bombshell book, released tomorrow, claims there is ‘increasing’ tension between Charles and William, fuelled by the King’s ‘jealousy’ of William and the public viewing his time on the throne as a brief ‘bridge’ to his son’s more ‘modernising’ reign.

He said amid these tension father and son ‘have already displayed signs that they are pursuing selfish agendas, a culture of coverups and PR trickery and family discord have taken over the House of Windsor’.

He cites the handling of Susan Hussey’s comments to a black British charity boss, where Prince William was quick to distance himself from his godmother.

He writes: ‘The father-son relationship was beginning to bristle with tension and one-upmanship, so William’s solo manoeuvrings around the Hussey trouble added force to friction.

‘William’s Kensington Palace and King Charles’ Buckingham Palace are now hives of competing agendas and different ideas about how to modernise’, adding: ‘The tussle for spotlight has only heightened since Charles became King’.

Endgame claims that Charles has always put himself first. It says the monarch is ‘a stubborn eccentric who has spent most of his life waiting and planning for his ascension, even at the cost of his relationships with his own sons’.

He goes on: ‘The former Prince of Wales is not only far less popular than his predecessor and his successor, he is a thorn in the side of the institution.

‘Charles knows his reign will be a transitional one. An intervening sovereignty that must happen before his elder son William, the Prince of Wales takes over at a far younger age to breathe new life into a desiccated monarchical system’.

Mr Scobie said Charles first reached out to Prince Harry’s wife in spring 2021 to share his ‘disappointment’ that the couple ‘chose to go so public with their words.’

The Duchess of Sussex’s allegation in her and the Duke’s TV special with Oprah Winfrey that an unnamed member of the Royal Family spoke about ‘how dark his (Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born’ is said to have ‘upset’ the monarch.

Mr Scobie claims that sources said Charles wanted to tell his daughter-in-law that he felt there was ‘no ill will present’ when two people allegedly commented on Archie’s skin colour.

The letters, a source told the author, were apparently ‘respectful back and forth’ but ‘serious’, adding: ‘I don’t know if either saw completely eye to eye in the end, but there was at least a feeling that both had been heard.’

Mr Scobie penned: ‘Since then, said a source close to the two families, the pair have had pleasant, if occasional exchanges. 

”There are no hard feelings about this specific incident, but there is distance, and everything else remains unaddressed’, said the source.’ 

Mr Scobie has also claimed the notes between the King and Meghan reveal the names of two people who allegedly commented on Archie’s skin colour.

The royal author said he could not reveal the identities of the two people for fear of legal reprisals in the UK.

But he said letters were exchanged between Charles and Meghan following the allegation in the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

King Charles was ‘stubbornly hard to pin down’ over whether Prince Harry and Meghan would be invited to the Coronation, the book claims.

Harry attended the monarch’s big day in May on his own, with Meghan staying at their home in Montecito, California.

He attended the ceremony in Westminster Abbey and then quickly returned to the US in time to see his son Archie on his birthday.

Writing in his new book Endgame, which has been released in Australia and is published in the UK tomorrow, Scobie claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were unsure for months if they were going to be invited.

In response to Harry’s queries about an invite, the King allegedly said in a February phone call initiated by Harry, ‘I… haven’t decided’.

Scobie adds that whilst the Duke had an ‘extensive list of reasons for skipping the proceedings altogether’, Harry had allegedly told a source that supporting his father ”still outweighed other things”.

Harry attended the ceremony in a suit, with his medals pinned to his chest, after being told he would not be allowed to wear his military uniform.

But Scobie says Charles gave the disgraced Prince Andrew a ‘firm nod’ to wear his ‘lavish’ Order of the Garter ceremonial robes.
