After collecting the gong, she took to Instagram and revealed that the award was a tribute to her ‘best friend’ Esben Johannessen, for whom she founded the company.

‘Thank you @ellenorge for naming Hést ‘Company of the Year’! We are beyond proud and grateful. Hést means more to us than just a brand,” she wrote on Instagram.

‘My best friend, Esben Johannessen, died suddenly of pancreatic cancer in 2019.

‘His wife Anne-Kari Bohagen and he had run the company together for many years at the time of his death.

‘He was a horse trainer, one of the best in Norway, and when he died Anne-Kari was left with two children, a farm, horses, dogs, no income and didn’t know where to go.

‘In her desperation, she confided in her friend Monica Utne, who had dreamed of starting a fashion brand since childhood, and suggested they start one together.

‘Although none of them had experience in the field, Anne-Kari said it couldn’t get any worse than it already was, let’s do it! They renamed Esben’s company and, to honor his legacy, renamed the brand Hést (hest means horse in Norwegian).

‘Because I was involved with Hést from the beginning and supported Anne-Kari after the loss of her husband, after a while I entered into a partnership with the two wonderful ladies.

“We are proud to be a female-led company focused on inclusivity, equality and intuition. We hope that Hést can inspire others to dream big and turn dreams into action, no matter how difficult life is.

‘We thank everyone who supported us and believed in us throughout the process. Thank you to our great team at Hést.

‘You are worth your weight in gold! You are all so special and a big reason why Hést is such a success.

‘Thank you to all the retailers (94 in Norway and 100 abroad) who took the chance on an unknown brand and made Hést who we are today.

‘And last but not least: thank you to everyone who loves our brand, who wears our sweaters and clothing, who supports us and shares your love with us.

‘Esben, this one is for you!’.

Leah often talks about her late father Ari Behn’s struggles with mental health after he tragically committed suicide on Christmas Day in 2019.

Martha Louise will now tie the knot with her American businessman partner in her home country in August.

The 52-year-old royal, who describes himself as “spiritual” and claims to be clairvoyant, will marry Durek Verrett, who calls himself a “shaman”, on August 31 at the Union Hotel in Geiranger.

The announcement comes after several years of difficulties for the Norwegian royal family, culminating in Princess Martha’s decision to step down as a working member of the family.

Eyebrows were raised when the princess first started dating Verrett, who holds a number of controversial and pseudoscientific views, including that cancer in children can be caused by ‘unhappiness’.

In an interview with the BBC earlier this year, she praised her parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, for keeping the dialogue open as she made her decision and they worked out the details of how the arrangements would work.

The princess was previously married to Ari Behn, whom she married in 2002 and had three children together: Maud Angelica, Leah Isadora and Emma Tallulah.

Ari had fought to marry Princess Martha after the couple came under heavy criticism because Mr Behn, a self-styled Bohemian author and artist, was not a traditional partner for a royal family.

They married in 2002 in a lavish ceremony at Trondheim’s historic Nidaros Cathedral, but chose to elope to London ten years later after lengthy examination of their married life.

They began divorce proceedings in 2016 because, as Princess Martha said, they had “grown apart” and were “not meeting each other like before.”

“We have tried everything for a long period of time, and if we still cannot meet as before, it is impossible for us to continue,” she told Norwegian’s News in English.

In an interview with the BBC this year, Martha spoke about her first husband and the “criticism” he faced.

She said: ‘His mental health depended heavily on him being criticized in the media.

‘But I’m not saying it was anyone’s fault. It’s always how you deal with criticism. The press criticized themselves after his death, that maybe they were a bit harsh on him, that he only received criticism and was actually a very nice person.’

After the divorce, Mr. Behn wrote a book Inferno, which critics described as “oozing with despair and sadness” and detailing his struggles with mental health, headaches, hallucinations and breathing difficulties.
