This chilling statement comes at a time when global tensions threaten to boil over – and that includes citizens around the world preparing for the prospect of a third world war.

At a commemoration event for the end of the siege of Leningrad, the Vice-Chairman of the Security Council said: 'It is our duty to carefully preserve the memory of the achievement of the Soviet people.

'For us, this is a source of courage and perseverance in the fight against the forces of neo-fascism.

'With the support of the West, the Kiev regime is trying to challenge not only Russia, but the entire civilized world.

“We will do everything we can so that, just like 80 years ago, our enemies disappear from the face of the earth forever.”

Russia's ambassador to Britain also warned today that British forces must abandon all hope of taking on or defeating Russia.

Andrei Kelin said after a ceremony in Leningrad: “No one has ever been able to beat us. This is very important.

“The fact that it was the Soviet Union which, together with the Allies, made a decisive contribution to our victory over Nazi Germany is well preserved in the memories of many British people.”

The former Russian prime minister discussed the siege of Leningrad, when German troops blockaded the Soviet city for 900 days.

800,000 Russians died, mainly from extreme cold and hunger.

On January 27, 1944, the blockade was broken and on Saturday Putin's puppet used this as an opportunity to send a chilling warning.

It is not the first time he has made a disturbing threat to the West.

Medvedev warned in October last year that British soldiers are training soldiers indoors Ukraine would be legitimate targets Russian forces and “ruthlessly destroyed”.

And it seems increasingly likely that Britain will have to become increasingly involved in the war in Ukraine.

People fear that Putin's invasion of Ukraine could see Russian forces move beyond Ukrainian borders to launch attacks on Europe, forcing NATO to join the war.

boss of NATODutch Admiral Rob Bauer's military committee has called on the West to “prepare for an era of war”, adding that NATO “needs a transformation in warfare”.

And Britain has said it will send some 20,000 troops for one of NATO's largest military exercises since the Cold War this week.

The military exercise focuses on Eastern Europe and will prepare for possible aggression from Russia.

And the bomb leaked documents revealed what a war between Putin, NATO and the West would look like.

With reports from Putin's health is deterioratingthere are also fears he could turn to nuclear weapons out of desperation.

Ordinary Britons can even be called upon to go to war with Russia because its armed forces are “too small”.

General Sir Patrick Sanders, Chief of the General Staff, has stressed the need for ministers to “mobilize the nation”.

Another Putin friend Sergei Lavrov also warned days ago that the West is time for 'global domination' is over and that a 'new world order' is on its way.
