Who is Kate Middleton's uncle Gary Goldsmith?

Gary Goldsmith, 58, is a millionaire businessman who made his money through recruitment.

He is Carole Middleton's younger brother and uncle Kate, Duchess of CambridgePippa and James.

Gary is the son of a painter and decorator from West London and grandson of a miner from a mining village Durham.

He was eight when Sister Carole left high school and became a member British Airways as a flight attendant where she met Michael Middleton.

At age 15, he was an usher at Carole and Michael's wedding.

When Gary – who has been married four times – left school, he got a job as an IT operator.

He married his first wife, sales executive Miranda Foote, in 1991.

Gary joined IT recruitment company Computer Futures and within six months he was a director and owned shares.

He then reportedly bought a five-bedroom house in Maidenhead, Berkshireimmediately swimming swimming pool and snooker room, invested in a boat and drove a series of them supercars.

Gary married his second wife Luan in 1997, but the marriage failed.

He married – and divorced – his third wife Julia Leake, a 32-year-old accountant, before marrying his fourth wife Julie-Ann.

Goldsmith was arrested on October 13, 2017 after allegedly attacking Julie-Ann outside their exchange London At home.

The pair had gotten into an argument in a taxi after a night out at the exclusive Home private members club in Portman Square, Marylebone.

The Met said at the time of his arrest: “Police in Westminster were called to an address at 1.24am on Friday October 13 following reports of a domestic incident.

“Officers have arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of domestic violence.

“He has been taken to a police station in central London for questioning.

“A woman who was found injured has been taken to hospital.”

Goldsmith was released on bail and attended a hearing on October 31.

On November 14, he pleaded guilty to beating his wife unconscious during a drunken street fight Westminster Court.

He was fined £5,000 before the incident in October 2017 and ordered to alcohol rehabilitation.

Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot said she was “looking at” giving him a community order instead of a prison sentence.

But she added: “I'm looking at ways to protect this lady from this man. There may be an alcohol problem.”
