The November 20 incident in Notting Hill, west London, prompted an armed police response.

The 24-year-old from Southwark, south-east London, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of three 9mm Parabellum caliber bullets.

Tokosi was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on March 18.

In 2019, the BBC praised Tokosi – who has 469,000 Instagram followers – for helping ‘shape’ drill music with his ‘witty wordplay’.

The drill rapper performed at the Wireless Festival in London in 2021 and his music videos have racked up tens of millions of hits online.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Nathan Tokosi, 24 (10.11.99), appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 19, charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition without a certificate.

“He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, March 18.

“Police were called at 2.05am on Monday 20 November 2023 to reports of a shooting in Clydesdale Road W11.

“Among those who responded were specialist firearms officers.

“Officers found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds.

“He was taken to a hospital in west London where his condition was later assessed as not life-threatening following emergency surgery.”

Anyone with information, video or images that could assist police should call 101 ref CAD 454/20nov23.
