RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice reveals parenting secrets with daughter Gia

The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘S Teresa Giudice tries her best to be a ‘cool mom’ to her daughters, but there are a few rules she doesn’t want to give in to.

“My parents were off the boat, very Italian, very strict,” Giudice, 51, said exclusively We weekly on the latest episode of “Mama Knows Best” while promoting her Giudice Girls x Shein collection with her eldest daughter Gia22. “I wanted to go to FIT and my dad wouldn’t let me… I didn’t want to be like that [my kids].”

Teresa shares daughters with Gia Gabriella19, Milan17, and Adriana14, with ex-husband Joe Giudice. The girls grew up in the Bravo spotlight, but Teresa still pushed them to follow their own dreams.

“The best advice I received from my mother during and after college is to honestly do everything she has never done before,” Gia said. Us. “She always said, ‘Make sure you girls travel [and] experience everything. ”

Gia graduated from Rutgers University earlier this year. Her mother, meanwhile, attended Berkeley College in New Jersey, just ten minutes away from her childhood home. “I never went to college, so I wanted them to have that experience,” Teresa said.

However, Teresa’s relaxed parenting philosophy hasn’t spared Gia from some rules that later don’t apply to her younger sisters – a situation older siblings know all too well. “I have started [more strict] she never had a sleepover with Gia,” Teresa said Us.

Gia “got angry” when her siblings could spend the night with friends. “I thought, ‘Why are they allowed to do that?’” she recalled.

Teresa explained that her perspective on sleepovers changed “when all the legal stuff happened between Joe and I,” referring to the time she and Joe spent in prison after pleading guilty to fraud in 2014.

The Giudice household also has some rules about dating. “Of course they can’t bring their friends into their room,” Teresa said Us. “And they can’t sleep over.”

Gia picked up some dating tips from her mom — and it looks like the lessons are sticking. “The best advice my mom has given me about dating is first, to always be happy in the relationship, and second, to keep my standards very high,” Gia said.

The Giudice girls are no strangers to being in front of the cameras, and most of their lives are documented RHONJ – including Audriana’s birth. While Teresa may be the star of the series, her children often help her stay calm during filming RHONJ. “I give my mom advice,” Gia said Us. ‘Me and Gabrielle are like the voice of reason.’

Reality TV fame aside, Teresa just wants the best for her girls. “Don’t do anything you’ll regret, and don’t ask me first and I’ll say yes or no,” she jokingly told Gia. “I am the coolest mom.”
