Sarah J. Maas' TV show 'ACOTAR' is still in the works at Hulu

BookTok can look forward to being the A Garden of Thorns and Roses A TV series is still in the works, We weekly confirms.

On Monday, February 12, reports circulated that Hulu has canceled the series, but a source says Us that the ACOTAR adjustment is still in development at the streamer.

Rumors that the show would be canceled started swirling afterward TVLine reported that the show was no longer moving forward. The outlet claimed that Hulu dropped the series and it was not shopped to other networks.

A few days before the speculation started, Craig Erwichthe president of Disney Television Group, gave a vague update on the highly anticipated fantasy series based on Sarah J. Maas'bestselling book series.

“That show is in development, but I don't have any news to share today,” Erwich said on Saturday, February 10, during a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

A Garden of Thorns and Roses hit shelves in 2015 and several sequels followed. The story follows the story of Feyre Archeron as she and her sisters, Elain and Nesta, are thrown into the magical world of fairies. Feyre meets several powerful leaders of the realm, including Tamlin, High Lord of the Spring Court, and Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court.

Hulu announced in 2021 that they were adapting the book into a show. Maas previously announced that she would work alongside showrunner Ron D Moorewhich also developed Foreignerto bring the world of ACOTAR to life.

“So it's official (and thanks, Josh, for accidentally spilling the beans!): Ron Moore (creator of Outlander and one of my creative idols) and I will be adapting it together ACOTAR as a TV show for Hulu!” Maas wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “I'm currently hard at work writing the pilot with Ron (!!!!!), and while there's SO much more news to share with you about bringing this series to life, it just feels like great to finally be able to talk about this! Stay tuned for more details!!”

While the show was in development, Maas wrote more series. In addition to ACOTAR, the author also wrote the book Throne of glass And Half Moon City series. Maas dropped the third episode in the Half Moon City books, House of Flame and Shadow, in January. Maas teased that her next book would be the sixth installment in the series ACOTAR book series.

“I'm very excited about that,” Maas said during a performance in January Today. 'I know a lot more about what's happening here. And then in the next book in that series I have the ideas and general, vague thoughts. But the core of the writing and the emotional journeys with the characters – I usually love going on those journeys with them.
