Sex And The City Fans Call Out MAJOR Continuity Error In Season Two Of And Just Like That

Sex And The City fans had a bone to pick with writers from the show’s reboot after picking up on a major continuity error during the season two premiere of And Just Like That.

In the second episode – titled “The Real Deal” – Charlotte York’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), creates a throwaway article about his mother who has been dead for ten years.

But fans quickly recalled that in SATC’s season five finale, Harry revealed that she passed before meeting Charlotte (Kristin Davis).

The moment is memorable because Harry couldn’t be with Charlotte, an Episcopalian, because he had “promised” his mother that he would marry a Jewish girl.

This inspired Charlotte to convert to Judaism – which ended up being a huge storyline in the sixth and final season which aired in 2004.

So it is impossible that Harry’s mother has only been dead for 10 years.

“The total and utter lack of continuity kills me,” one aggravated viewer wrote on Thursday.

Many called for the hiring of “fact-checkers” and chided writers for being “lazy.”

Others called out showrunner Michael Patrick King — who produced both the original series and the reboot — for letting such a mistake slip through the cracks.

‘Didn’t MPK remember that Harry’s mother was dead when he and Charlotte met? The continuity errors continued to baffle me,” one fan tweeted.

Not even Sarah Jessica Parker escaped scrutiny, as one Twitter user wrote, “Embarrassing. And SJP is an executive producer, how did she not catch that!”

The line in question is blurted out during a scene where Charlotte and Harry dine with boyfriend Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone) at their New York City home.

Charlotte is consumed with her attempts to contact a luxury consignment store The Real Deal, who she says took advantage of her daughter Lily by buying her clothes from her.

Lily sold them to pay for new music equipment that her parents refused to buy for her.

The clothes are sentimental for Charlotte – especially a pink Chanel dress Lily once wore to a piano recital.

She tells Harry and Anthony that The Real Deal is not responding to her emails and that in addition to getting the dress back, she just wants them to acknowledge their wrongdoings.

‘Good luck,’ says Harry mockingly. “I’m still waiting for confirmation from my mom and she’s been dead for 10 years.”

But this is in direct contradiction to what he told Charlotte in the season six premiere episode – which aired 19 years earlier – as he explained to her why he is so insistent on marrying a Jewish girl.

“I promised my mother that I would marry a Jew just before she died,” he confessed to her.

Charlotte and Harry eventually marry after her conversion and welcome two children.

Along with Lily, they share non-binary child Rock, 12, who was formerly known as Rose.

The personal lives of all the SATC ladies are further explored in the second season of And Just Like That…, which premiered Thursday in two parts on Max.

Bringing the “Sex” back into the series, the first episode opens with a bang as Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Davis).

Miranda enjoys a passionate hot tub romp with her non-binary lover, Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) in Los Angeles, while the NYC ladies call the shots with their men of choice.

Showing off her more experimental side, Miranda models a black leather strap-on for Che in the bedroom – but it doesn’t get any further than fitting.

While figuring out the afterlife of ‘Mr. Big,” Carrie finds herself in her wedding dress as her planned Met Gala look turns disastrous.

This season also sees the return of new characters Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), and Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman).

But there was no sign of Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) or Carrie’s former love Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), despite confirmation that they’ll both make their much-anticipated returns this season.

Cattrall’s cameo is the biggest shocker, as she famously has a falling out with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker and vowed never to work on the show again.

It has been reported that the cameo will feature Kim’s character speaking to Carrie on the phone in the finale, according to PEOPLE in May.

Kim reportedly filmed the cameo on March 22 in New York City and did not see or speak to the other stars of the series, including Parker, Nixon and Davis according to Variety.

She also apparently didn’t see series creator Michael Patrick King at the time.

However, she was dressed by Sex and The City designer Patricia Field for the cameo.

Her co-star Evan Handler provided more details to PEOPLE, telling the outlet that Kim shot into a “garage” and “didn’t interact with anyone” in the cast.

‘Evidently, [her cameo] was shot somewhere in the garage with no contact with anyone, so the only place I can welcome her is in my living room when it’s on television,” the actor claimed.
