Ngannou, 37, was in only his second boxing fight after beating Fury, 35, on his debut but lost a controversial decision.

But White – who saw the Cameroonian walk to the UFC to box – was not surprised to see order restored in the ring.

He said: “If Fury had trained for the fight and not turned up looking like he ate Tyson Fury, that fight probably would have ended too.

“Listen, you know how I feel about the crossovers in boxing – that’s just how they end up.”

Ngannou signed for UFC rival the Professional Fighters League, which allowed his transition to boxing.

It leaves his MMA future up in the air, but the heavyweight star insisted his future in the ring is not over.

Ngannou said: “You can be sure I’m not done here yet. It wasn’t my day.

“He was much better than me. It sucks, but it’s the game. We all know that.”

Joshua hugged Ngannou shortly after the stunning KO and even urged him to stay in boxing.

He said: “You are an inspiration. ‘You will beat a lot of people. Don’t leave boxing. Don’t leave boxing.’

Joshua, 34, then added: “If you need anything just let me know but we’ll talk another time.”
