Urgent manhunt for man attacked with 'noxious substance' in Ramsgate cemetery – The Sun

Police have launched an urgent manhunt after a man was attacked with a “harmful substance” in a cemetery.

Officers rushed to the scene at St. Laurence cemetery in Ramsgate. KnowsThe man was found with injuries yesterday around 8:20 p.m.

The man was on Manston Road and had just entered the cemetery when he was targeted by an unknown assailant.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of burns to the back of his head, Kent said Police.

He remains in hospital, where his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Police confirm no arrests have been made.

But an investigation has been launched to “establish the circumstances surrounding the incident”.

Thanet District Commander Chief Inspector Ian Swallow added: “We would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.

“Anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage in the area from Margate Road to Newington Road and Manston Road, please check if there is anything that could assist officers with their investigation.

“Incidents like this are rare but we do not underestimate the impact it has on a community and as a result there will be an increased police presence in the area as we continue to conduct investigations.”

Kent Police said: “The victim reported that at around 8.20pm on Sunday 11 February 2024 he was walking along Manston Road and as he entered St Laurence Graveyard a noxious substance was thrown at him.

“He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of burns to the back of his head. He remains in hospital where his injuries are described as non-life threatening.”
