The King and Queen of Spain have made their first public appearance together since Letizia’s ex-brother-in-law claimed he had an affair with the royal family.

The Queen, 51, and King Felipe, 55, brushed off the scandalous allegations and beamed as they arrived at a meeting with Princesa de Girona Foundation officials at the Royal Palace in Madrid this afternoon.

Dressed in a scarlet top and a black skirt with floral details, paired with knee-length suede boots, Letizia, mother of two, looked up at her husband and smiled as they strolled into the room.

Meanwhile, Felipe, looking sharp as always in a tailored suit, beamed at his wife as they appeared deep in conversation.

The royal couple’s cheerful appearance comes after explosive allegations from the ex-husband of Letizia’s sister, Jaime Del Burgo, 53, that he and the queen were dating while Letizia was dating Felipe.

The King and Queen of Spain have dismissed allegations of an explosive affair by Letizia’s ex-brother-in-law as they were seen together in public for the first time since the claims were made this afternoon.

The entrepreneur, who currently lives in Britain, was previously married to Letizia’s sister Telma Ortiz. However, in a contribution to a tell-all book about the Spanish queen, he made the far-fetched claim that he and Letizia were still romantically involved after her marriage to King Felipe in 2004.

Jaime, who claims he was dating Letizia when she first met the heir to the Spanish throne, also shared a selfie the queen took in the mirror during one of her pregnancies as ‘proof’ of their relationship on X, formerly known as Twitter, last week.

The selfie shows the royal in a black pashmina – which Jaime claims was his – and he also typed a message purportedly sent to him by the Spanish Queen.

The allegations first came to light in a book, Letizia & I, written by journalist Jaime Peñafiel.

Speak with El Cierre DigitalThe author, 91, said Letizia was Jaime del Burgo’s “great love” and that the couple’s relationship turned into a “great friendship” after she started dating King Felipe.

The businessman told the author that he met Letizia before 2000 and that their relationship began during a romantic trip to Venice, years before she met King Felipe.

Jaime – the son of former politician Jaime Ignacio del Burgo – claims he planned to propose to Letizia when she announced she was dating a mysterious ‘diplomat’ during a dinner at the Ritz hotel in Madrid in 2002.

The author described how “serious and important” their relationship was and made the unlikely claim that Jaime was “wearing an engagement ring in his pocket” that night.

Letizia reportedly told him that she had “met someone who would force her to quit her profession,” which Jaime said led him to deduce that Felipe was her mystery partner.

After the pair reportedly decided to just remain friends, Jaime reportedly advised Letizia: “Don’t announce the romance, just the wedding.”

After their engagement announcement in 2003, Letizia – who divorced her first husband in 1999 – asked Jaime to be best man at their wedding.

Additionally, the ex-brother-in-law of the royal family also made the far-fetched claim that he “handled” Letizia’s prenuptial agreement and helped pay for the cost of the Queen’s family’s wedding suits.

He says: ‘When the wedding with Felipe took place, as you know, I settled the prenuptial agreement, among other things.

‘I also had to pay for Letizia’s family’s expenses because [former King] Juan Carlos refused to pay or even come with me. So with the help of my friend Felipe Varela, I dressed her mother, grandmother and her sisters. And with the help of Jaime Jason, her father, grandparents and a cousin.’
