How A24 made movie merchandise cool again! Production company causes a stir among Gen Z with £315 necklace and £35 T-shirts inspired by Priscilla that sold out in minutes

A24 has established itself as a powerhouse in the film industry – and now the company has set its sights on conquering the world of merchandise.

The American film production company has had a great past few years, following the release of cult classics such as Aftersun, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Ex Machina and Netflix's hit thriller Beef.

Following the success of these films and TV shows, the brand has started creating merchandise inspired by their productions – and the pieces are selling out at a pace comparable to streetwear brands.

The necklace tied to the upcoming film Priscilla, starring the equally coveted Jacob Elordi, costs $400 [£314]and was created in collaboration with LA-based jewelry label J.Hannah.

Additionally, there are Priscilla-inspired diamond-encrusted T-shirts, which cost $45 [£35]sold out within minutes.

The brand has created a craze on social media and individuals have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to share their love for the merchandise.

“I think every film deserves A24 level merchandise production,” one person wrote.

Another added: 'Why am I at a point in my life where I have a major need for A24 merchandise.'

A third wrote: 'Refresh Priscilla's A24 merch page a hundred times a day.'

“Every time I'm a little upset; I remember ordering the powder blue a24 Priscilla sweater,” said a fourth.

Meanwhile, a fifth added: “$95 shipping on the A24 Priscilla jersey should be a deterrent but it's not.”

Sofia Coppola's highly anticipated biopic of Priscilla centers on her romance with the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

The Polaroid T-shirt and sweatshirt followed suit, with fans having to join a waiting list to secure a piece on the next release.

Despite the often adult themes of A24's film and television productions, the entertainment company has even taken children into account – with a clothing range for two to three year olds, plus children's books, notebooks, stickers and water bottles.

Additionally, A24 has also developed a membership website where customers can gain exclusive access to their merchandise drops.

Priced at $5 [£3.95] per month subscription also gives A24 fanatics a magazine subscription and bonus content on an All-Access App.

It comes after Apple signed a multi-year deal with A24 to create and produce original content for the upcoming streaming service.

A source familiar with Apple's plans said the TV shows and movies will be available on Apple devices starting “sometime next year.”

New York-based A24 has released several Oscar-winning films, including Moonlight, Amy, Lady Bird and Room.

Apple has allocated a budget of around £800 million ($1 billion) to program and secure a slate of original content featuring Hollywood heavyweights.

Terms of the deal, the latest signed to expand Apple's growing content offering, were not disclosed.

The company recently announced that Oprah Winfrey has also signed a multi-year deal in which she will create “original programming that embraces her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world.”

Competitors are also said to be making deals with Ms. Winfrey.

The tech giant has also given a two-season order to an untitled drama starring actresses Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon about a network morning show.
