Adam Sandler‘s daughters may be fans of his work, but not when it comes to seeing their father kiss on screen.
“If I have to kiss someone, they’re not happy about it,” Adam, 57, revealed on the Tuesday, November 21, episode The Jennifer Hudson Show. “My wife always tells them, ‘It’s OK. It’s part of the job. Let daddy kiss. ”
Adam, who shares daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, with his wife Jackie Sandler, said his oldest “always liked it.” However, it was his youngest who took exception to him sharing a hug with his costars.
‘Sunny used to go to my wife and say, ‘You have to watch them. That is not good. And I don’t like that,” Adam said.
Adam confessed that he had developed a strategy when it came to calming his girls down during intimate moments. “I’m keeping my mouth shut a little,” he joked. “I don’t open too wide.” Jennifer Hudsonwho co-starred with Adam in the 2017 film Sandy Wexlercalled his tactics “very suitable for movies.”
Despite being uncomfortable with the physical side of their father’s job, Adam’s daughters seem to be following in his footsteps into the entertainment world.
“They both like it, they both talk about it,” Adam said. “I just want them to be happy and these are the things they talk about. My eldest daughter wants to go to university for it and they are both very good. They both think about it a lot and work hard on it, so we’ll see what happens.”
The pair voiced child characters in the 2023 animated film Lion, in which their father plays the voice of a lizard. Adam revealed to Hudson, 42, that they started working on the film “four or five years ago” when his daughters were younger, adding that Sunny has a “small voice.”
But this isn’t the first time the family has collaborated on a film together. They were all previously featured in Pixels, Grown Ups And Grown Ups 2. Jackie, 49, has also made cameos in films like Big daddy, 50 first dates And Murder mystery.
The foursome also recently starred in the 2023 Netflix film So you’re not invited to my Bat Mitzvah. Sandler casting his daughters in the film was supported by the director Sammi Cohenwho defended the actor’s decision amid “nepo baby” criticism.
“Sandler has a reputation for making movies with his friends, and that’s something we all want to do,” Cohen said. The Hollywood Reporter in August. “What I’m saying is he still makes movies with his friends, but they’re his kids. He is the kind of father who is also your best friend.”
