Alan Carr has opened up about being fat, shamed by a personal trainer.

The television icon said he felt ‘triggered’ after being called ‘fat’ by a female personal trainer at his gym.

The star, 47, discussed the incident on his podcast Life’s A Beach, saying: ‘I went to see someone quite famous and I didn’t like the way she was talking to me.’

Alan explained that he thinks someone else at the gym gave her a warning for her language after she told him, ‘Come on, fat boy!’.

The next time the star went, she changed her tune and said, “Oh, you know, Alan, take a breather if you want.”

He explained: ‘It was triggering. It was like being back in the playground.

‘People don’t believe I have a personal trainer because I’m fat.’

Alan earlier revealed in 2020 that he drew inspiration from his best friend Adele‘s incredible seven stones weight loss and had started a diet herself.

The TV funnyman said at the time that he was now on a 1,000-calorie-a-day diet after seeing the results of the ‘Someone Like You’ singer’s transformation.

Alan said Adele looks ‘amazing’ after her recent weight loss, which was first revealed while on holiday with her friends Harry Styles and James Corden.

But in 2021, the comedian admitted he let himself go during lockdown and gained three stone by eating too much banana bread.

He admitted that he had gained so much weight that he became too fat to even fit into his coats.

Speaking to Heat Magazine about life during lockdown, Alan said: ‘The first time I thought, ‘Oh my God, I can just stay at home and eat, eat, eat’.

He explained: 'It was triggering. It was like being back in the playground.”

‘I made all the banana bread, I got really fat and thought, “Ha ha, no one can see me.” I went to Netflix, read all my books, had my jigsaw puzzles.

When I was cut off with two, I suddenly became a key worker because I was leaving the house for work and I thought: “S**t! I’ve got to lose two stone overnight.”

The TV presenter says he had to go on a health kick after it got to the point where he was struggling to fit into his anorak.

“During lockdown three, I’m losing weight and I’m not going to eat banana bread and I’m going to take a walk a day,” he said.

‘I was shocked that you could even exercise a little bit. I was like, “Damn!” I mean, it’s getting to the point where I can’t even fit into jackets anymore; my anorak looks like a crop top.”

He told The Mirror: ‘I’ve gained a lot of weight during lockdown. People will think, ‘What the hell did he eat, because he’s bloated!’

‘I ate old junk. I think I put about three stones on it. You see skinny people on Instagram and they only have a slice of banana bread, but I ate the whole thing.’
