Comedian Nikki Osborne has said she believes homework should be banned to make children and parents happier.

In a column written for The courier postThe Australian actress, 42, said schoolwork at home should be abolished as schools introduce a four-day working week.

It comes after the Queensland government gave public primary and secondary schools the green light to change timetables and shorten the school week.

‘No. Drive backwards,” the mother of two wrote before asking how working parents would cope in this situation.

‘I try to imagine that every parent really wants this. Especially a working parent. I’m already struggling to schedule a work week with the current school schedule, but to lose a day? I had a really good laugh imagining the knock-on effects of this.”

‘[No homework] will allow us to have more time to bond and connect after dinner,” she added.

It comes after Nikki recently revealed her two young sons were taken from her and checked for ‘explosives’ during a terrifying ordeal at Dubai airport.

She had been on holiday in France with sons Will, 15, and Teddy, 10, before catching a flight back to Australia, and was passing through in the early hours.

Recalling the disturbing time in The courier post on Sunday, Nikki said airport officials let her through but stopped the boys for inspection.

‘I handed security our three boarding passes and passports and instead of handing them all back to me, to my astonishment, he identified my two young boys, pointed to them, gave them the corresponding paperwork and then said to me, ‘Lady, you go through the gate to board your plane. Guys, you’re coming with me,” she explained.

Nikki said she refused to leave her two young boys behind, who were frozen in fear.

She added that one of her sons even said “stop them” after being told he would be separated from her.

“I went into mama bear mode and said, ‘Noooooooo, they’re staying with me or I’m going with them,’” she said.

“It’s half past one in the morning, abroad they have my boys, they have their passports, what can I stop them? We’ve seen the movies. We know that when it comes to foreign travel, things can change a bit.’

The two boys were then led to an examination room, where Nikki marched behind him.

Nikki noted that only adults were subject to checks, not children, apart from her own children.

Following the investigation, the trio boarded their flight back to Australia.

Nikki railed against airport staff, asking, “Who in their right mind thinks it’s okay to separate young children from their mothers?”

The artist added that both her boys were deeply saddened by the incident, with one of them crying throughout the 14-hour flight home.

She ended by warning fellow holidaymakers planning to travel through Dubai, saying she hoped a similar incident would not happen to their families.
