Babar Azam breaks Virat Kohli's record to become the fastest batsman to complete 10,000 T20 runs

New Delhi: Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has added another feather to his cap during PSL 2024. Babar became the sixth batsman to complete 10,000 runs in the shortest format of the game and at the same time has also become the fastest to reach the milestone.

Earlier, Chris Gayle topped the list when he scored 10,000 T20 runs in 285 innings. Universe Boss in 2017 became the first ever cricketer to cross the 10,000 run mark in the format.

However, Babar Azam has done it in just 271 innings and has surpassed cricketing greats Virat Kohli, David Warner, Aaron Finch and Jos Buttler. Babar needed just six runs to set the world record and did so in the sixth match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. He is also leading the side and had missed the huge career milestone in the last match by reaching 68 against Quetta Gladiators

Babar Azam has scored his 10,000 runs in 271 innings, while Chris Gayle took 285 and Virat Kohli, who is currently at third position, took 299 innings to reach this milestone. Australian star hitter David Warner played 303 innings to join this elite club.
